Title:
WMS Fall Play Technical Theater Director•Afterschool
Position Summary:
Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Technical Theater Director to join our team. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our youngest learners. Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to): Collaborate effectively with the Fall Play Director. Work with the Play Director on design and scheduling. Meet weekly (preferably Wednesday 2:30•3:30) to train student crew. Be present at tech rehearsals and productions; coordinate the strike and resetting of the theater and theater spaces following a production. Design and build sets with volunteer crew on a few Saturday mornings. Maintain and inventory theater and technical equipment at WMS.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience working with middle school aged children is highly preferred.
Cultural Competency:
Experience with diverse populations and a strong commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Professionalism:
Strong communication skills and the personal characteristics necessary to serve as a positive role model for students.
Education and Experience:
Experience in theater production and theater tech experience preferred. Be proficient in the basics of carpentry and set construction; schedule set builds and technical rehearsals in conjunction with the Stage Director. Be knowledgeable in sound engineering and lighting design and able to train students in both areas.

Salary:
