Job Description

Responsible for overall operation of swimming pool including water quality, supervision of lifeguards, collection of fees, work schedules and general maintenance and cleaning. Pool Manager reports to Division Chief and Superintendent, Supervises Assistant Pool Manager and Lifeguard. Essential Job Functions Implements and monitors programs, procedures and policies related to the operation of a County pool. Assigns work to employees; schedules work and employees; trains employees in work methods and procedures; takes steps to correct inadequate performance; refers discipline and serious performance problems to a supervisor. Maintains water quality at acceptable levels. Supervises and performs routine cleaning of pool, bathhouse and related areas. Requisitions and maintains adequate stock of chemicals and supplies necessary to maintain cleanliness of water and pool areas. Collects or ensures proper collection of fees; maintains all reports related to fees, attendance and water quality as required by the Recreation Division and the Health Department. Enforces all rules and regulations as they relate to pool safety. Oversees the daily opening and closing of the pool. Performs lifeguard duties. Other Duties Attends weekly training sessions. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.) Knowledge of-- Pool operations and sanitation. Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalent, or current enrollment as a high school student.
Experience:
Two seasons as a lifeguard.
Licenses or Certificates:
Current Maryland Pool Operator's license and current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid & CPR/AED certificate.
Special Requirements:
Must be age 18 or have work permit. Subject to background investigation.
Physical Demands:
Work requires medium to heavy physical effort.

Pay rate: $20.58 per hour Grade H13, Hourly position, up to 40 hours per week Department of Parks and Recreation Position closing date: June 1, 2026
