Located on the Nautical Mile in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, the 7.9-acre site includes a 6,500-sf clubhouse, a swimming pool, beautiful park-like grounds, and 118 boat wells. This is a family-friendly sail and power boat club offering yachting amenities at an affordable price. GLYC has a full-time Facilities Manager with a staff of two and a part-time housekeeper, in addition to the Office Manager. See website www.greatlakesyc.com for more information. Club Manager Full-time position reports to the Club Commodore (who changes annually each November). The Club Manager is responsible for the smooth running of all administrative, book-keeping and social operations to ensure an outstanding experience for members and guests. The Club Manager is the face of the club, interacting with members and prospects regularly and communicating with co-workers. The Club Manager has knowledge of the club's policies and procedures and successfully carries them out. Knowledge of boating is helpful but not required.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinating regular Club communications to members o Weekly email update to members o Monthly newsletter from member submissions o Creating digital marketing materials o Managing reservations for all Club activities o Creating flyers for Club activities Maintaining club's member database Administering annual Club forms re well assignments, winter storage, etc. Preparing information packets and financial reports for monthly Board of Directors meetings Answering phone/responding to voice mail, responding to email and US Mail Managing transient dock assignment in season Assisting with Nautical Nook (merchandise) purchases Bookkeeping using QuickBooks Desktop including but not limited to: o Weekly payroll input (it's really just monthly payroll JE's/reconciliation) o Monthly billings to members, accounts receivable, and accounts payable o Monthly bank reconciliation o Quarterly sales tax payments o Monitoring utility and vendor invoices for club operations o Preparing checks weekly for Treasurer o Preparing expense reports as needed o Providing requested financial information annually to CPA Coordinating annual inspections for Health and Fire Departments for pool and galley Keeps all licenses and insurances current and accurate Ordering all office supplies Managing housekeeper and ordering supplies Assisting member Committee Chairs, as needed o Directing membership inquiries to Admissions Chair o Helping Social Chairs/hosts with planned events and purchasing supplies, as needed o Interfacing with Club caterer o Maintaining Club website Miscellaneous administrative duties as directed by Commodore and Treasurer Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience Excellent writing and oral communication skills, particularly as it pertains to members and prospects Bookkeeping/Accounting experience preferred Customer Service and Hospitality experience Skilled in MS Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Adobe Acrobat Able to maintain confidential and sensitive information Organized and detail oriented Self-started, able to work independently Problem solving skills Schedule flexibility Valid Michigan Driver's License Schedule Full-time (40 hours per week, 5 days a week) Winter hours November 1 - April 30: Flexible days and includes one Monday evening monthly (approx. 3 hours) for Board of Directors meetings Summer hours May 1 - Oct 31: 5 days a week, including Saturday and Sunday. Monday holidays are included, as well as one Monday evening monthly for Board of Directors meetings.
