Acting General Manager / Gym Director

Immediate Leadership Opportunity The Little Gym of Winston-Salem is looking for an energetic, reliable, and hands-on leader to step into an immediate leadership role supporting the daily operations, staff leadership, and member experience of our gym. This position is designed as a 90-day interim leadership opportunity with strong potential for long-term growth for the right person. We are looking for someone who can step in quickly, support the team, maintain a positive culture, help keep operations running smoothly, and create a great experience for children and families during a leadership transition. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines team leadership, customer experience, operations, and community engagement in a fun, fast-paced environment. What You'll Be Responsible ForTeam Leadership & Operations Help lead the day-to-day operations of the gym Support, coach, and motivate staff Help maintain scheduling coverage and operational consistency Lead by example during classes, events, and busy operational periods Assist with staff communication and accountability Member & Parent Experience Build positive relationships with families and members Ensure children and parents feel welcomed and supported Help resolve questions and concerns professionally and quickly Maintain a warm, organized, and high-energy environment Classes, Events & Programs Support and occasionally lead classes using The Little Gym curriculum Help ensure classes, camps, birthday parties, and events run smoothly Support instructors in delivering safe, engaging, high-quality experiences Step in where needed to help the team succeed Membership & Community Support Assist with lead follow-up, trial conversions, and member communication Support local outreach and community events Help maintain strong membership and retention efforts Success In This Role Looks Like The gym runs smoothly during leadership transition Families continue having a great experience Staff feel supported, organized, and motivated Scheduling and operations stay consistent Parent concerns are handled quickly and professionally You lead with positivity, reliability, urgency, and ownership What We're Looking For Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience Strong communication and people skills Positive attitude and strong work ethic Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment Ability to lead adults while creating a fun experience for children Reliable, organized, and solutions-oriented Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed Genuine love for working with children and families Preferred Experience in fitness, hospitality, retail, recreation, education, or childcare Experience managing schedules, staff, or customer experience Experience in membership-based or service-based businesses Background in child development, gymnastics, recreation, or physical education is helpful but not required Compensation & Opportunity Starting at $20/hour Performance bonus opportunities available Opportunity for permanent placement and long-term growth for the right candidate Paid training provided Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Professional development opportunities Positive and energetic work environment Why The Little Gym?
