Functioning in a program role, the Aquatics Director oversees operations of the Cubworld pool, providing leadership to lifeguards and swimming instructors, ensuring that both state and National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP) safety standards are upheld and that aquatics programs are offered throughout the week. Oversee all daily operations of the camp aquatics program, including the swimming pool, instructional areas, and related waterfront activities. Ensure the aquatics program operates in full compliance with Scouting America National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP) standards and all applicable local and state health regulations. Serve as the designated Aquatics Director for camp and maintain all required certifications for the position. Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate lifeguards, instructors, and aquatics staff members. Verify that all aquatics staff maintain current certifications, including lifeguarding, CPR/AED, first aid, and other required credentials. Conduct and document daily safety inspections of the swimming pool, filtration systems, rescue equipment, and aquatic program areas. Develop, implement, and enforce emergency action plans for aquatic incidents, severe weather, lost swimmers, injuries, and other emergencies. Ensure proper swimmer classification procedures are conducted and documented in accordance with Scouting America Safe Swim Defense guidelines. Maintain strict adherence to Safe Swim Defense and other applicable Scouting America aquatics policies. Coordinate swim checks, merit badge instruction, advancement programs, and recreational swim activities. Monitor swimmer-to-lifeguard ratios and ensure adequate supervision is maintained at all times. Maintain accurate records of attendance, swimmer classifications, incident reports, equipment inspections, chemical logs, and staff certifications. Ensure all rescue and first aid equipment is present, operational, and readily accessible. Enforce camp policies regarding buddy systems, safe behavior, and use of aquatic facilities. Participate in camp leadership meetings and collaborate with health officers, program directors, and camp administration regarding safety and operations. Assist in preparing for NCAP assessment visits, council inspections, and health department reviews. Train staff and campers on emergency procedures, waterfront safety rules, and risk management practices. Manage aquatics program supplies, inventory, and equipment purchasing within approved camp budgets. Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging aquatics environment that supports youth development and camper participation. All other duties as assigned. Prior experience in Scouting America camp operations or similar youth-serving outdoor programs. Experience with Customer Relationship Management tools such as Blackpug or similar software used for booking reservations and/or programming. Familiarity with NCAP standards and accreditation processes. Experience in logistics, operations, or camp administration. Room and board for the period of camp operations.
