Key Responsibilities:
A camp aquatics director must oversee all swimming activities that occur at swimming pool(s) of our camp program. This person shall supervise lifeguards and other required staff during swimming activities and implement the camp safety plan.
- Maintains order and safety in swimming areas and assists in enforcing pool policies.
- Ensures and provides a safe, healthy & clean pool environment always.
- Consistent and vigilant monitoring of the pool is required.
- Responds quickly, efficiently, and professionally to any emergency.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all pool rules and regulations and can enforce these regulations.
- Provides corrective and positive feedback to campers to foster a positive learning atmosphere.
- Provides specific directions for swim aides and develops their knowledge, skills, and capability for swim instruction.
- Lead and Provide swim instruction to students of all ages, abilities, and skill levels.
- Lead activities per program guidelines. Qualifications (REQUIRED):
- Be at least 21 years of age and have a minimum of: − One season of previous experience as a camp aquatics director at a New York State children's camp; or − Two seasons of previous experience consisting of at least 12 weeks as a children's camp lifeguard which had more than one lifeguard supervising it at a time; or − 18 weeks of previous experience as a lifeguard at a swimming pool or bathing beach, which had more than one lifeguard supervising it at a time.
- Hold an accepted and current CPR certificate recognized by NYS and Nassau county.
- Possess current certification in a training course for lifeguard supervision and management as described below:
- Genuine interest in working with children.
- Fun-spirited and patient.
Lifeguard/WSI ( $17+/hr DOE )
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and supervise pool activities to prevent accidents
- Enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment
- Perform water rescues and administer first aid when necessary
- Conduct regular inspections of the pool area for cleanliness and safety
- Assist with pool maintenance tasks such as cleaning and chemical checks
- Assist/Conduct swimming lessons in coordination with team as needed
- Prepares aquatic instructional equipment before classes begin and puts it away when lessons have ended.
Qualifications:
- Valid Nassau County Lifeguard certification
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Previous Lifeguard experience a plus Reimbursements toward certifications available for those who qualify and are in good employment standing at the end of camp season.
Opportunities available for additional compensation as well.
