Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is seeking a certified Manager, Therapeutic Recreation for our 120-bed Skilled Nursing Facility. This is a great opportunity for a qualified activities / life enrichment professional who will enjoy interacting with and supporting an older adult population. Candidates must possess an Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Social Work, Education, Therapy / Recreation, or a related field; be certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Director in PA; have at least 4 years of relevant work experience in a long-term care or healthcare facility, including at least 1 year in a leadership or management role. The Therapeutic Recreation / Life Enrichment team coordinates a variety of fitness, recreational, and social activities for older adult Residents, to enhance their physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being. The Therapeutic Recreation team works in collaboration with clinical staff to ensure adherence to each Resident's plan of care. The Manager, Therapeutic Recreation provides leadership, planning, coordination, and supervision for the Skilled Care Therapeutic Recreation function and staff. Working with the Nursing Home Administrator, the Manager identifies, implements, manages, and evaluates an on-going program of activities for Skilled Care Residents, including Residents with physical and/or cognitive limitations. The Manager provides effective training, guidance, direction, and leadership for all Skilled Care Therapeutic Recreation staff. The Manager provides regular coaching and communication to staff, to enhance competencies and ensure coordination and collaboration with work activities. The Manager also coordinates and oversees the activities of Skilled Care volunteers. The Manager facilities regular Resident Council meetings, and promptly follows-up on issues as needed. The Manager works cooperatively and respectfully with Residents, colleagues, families, representatives, and volunteers. The Manager ensures adherence to federal and state regulations applicable to Skilled Nursing Facilities, as well as professional standards and principles, while carrying-out responsibilities. The ability to safely push adult Residents in wheelchairs; lift and move fitness equipment; push equipment carts; stand and walk frequently during the shift; and work outdoors on occasion is required. Position:
an Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Social Work, Education, Therapy / Recreation, or a related field certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Director in PA , and eligible for certification as a Therapeutic Recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990; or is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant at least 4 years of relevant work experience in a long-term care or healthcare facility at least 1 year of leadership and management experience, including effective experience leading and training staff; managing a program, function, or department; developing, coordinating, and monitoring department policies and procedures; managing a program or department budget thorough knowledge of the effect of cognitive impairment on older adults; understanding of recreation activities appropriate and safe for Residents of a Skilled Nursing Facility high attention and commitment to Resident safety and well-being strong verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills; the ability to interact effectively and in a professional manner with Residents, their family members, colleagues, staff members, and professional associates thorough knowledge of relevant regulations pertaining to a Skilled Nursing Facility, including HIPAA the ability to work effectively with changing daily priorities and to meet deadlines the ability to safely push adult Residents in wheelchairs ability and willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to supervise staff who work 7 days per week For the health and safety of all members of our community, Brethren Village maintains a drug-free, alcohol-free, and tobacco / smoke-free work environment.
