Golden Mile Hwy, Pittsburgh, PA 115239 POSITION SUMMARY The Pool Manager/Head Guard is responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. This position is responsible for building positive relationships with members in addition to member satisfaction and retention. This position is expected to lead others by example so all guards understand the expectations of their position.OUR CULTURE

Maintains active surveillance of the pool area. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergencies immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the "safe-in-six" model. Completes related reports as required. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the State Health Department code. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving. Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action. Attends all staff meetings and in-service training. Assists lifeguards with any questions or concerns they may have as well as provides additional training when needed. Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants. Willing to instruct lifeguarding classes under the Red Cross platform. Willing to instruct group and private swim lessons when necessary. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergencies immediately and in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the "safe-in-six" model. Completes related reports as required. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the State Health Department code. Performs other duties as assigned.LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
Functional Expertise Customer ServiceQUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum of 18 years of age. Minimum of 2 years of experience required. CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen. Current American Red Cross OR YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent. If you are not lifeguard certified, take the course with the Y! After working with us for 90 days, you may be eligible for reimbursement for the certification.View available Lifeguard courses here:
