Job Type Full-time Unionized Position Code Not Applicable Job Description The Fitness Program Manager reports to the Assistant Director for Fitness Programs and assists with the daily operations of the Barnes Center at The Arch Fitness programs. This position has personnel management responsibilities that include assisting with the training, development and daily supervision of approximately 65-70 staff, encompassing fitness instructors, fitness assistants and fitness supervisors. This position will provide a diverse array of classes, educational workshops, and specialty programming to engage students and members of the university. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's degree preferred in kinesiology, exercise science, physical education, recreation administration, sport management, or comparable degree. Current Group Fitness Instructor certification from a nationally recognized fitness organization such as the
NSCA, ACSM, NASM, AFAA
etc. 2+ years' experience in a group fitness/personal training program in a collegiate recreation setting. Ability to teach a variety of class formats on an as needed basis. Current Personal Training Certification preferred. Ability to create an environment that is welcoming to all. Skills and Knowledge Possess a current First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Responsibilities Manage daily operations of Fitness programs including hiring, supervising and evaluating 65-70 instructors, fitness assistants and fitness supervisors. Directly oversee class scheduling, managing patron class registrations and marketing programs. Assist with development of Fitness participant incentive programs. Teach classes as needed. Develop and implement staff trainings and in-service programs. Process payroll for Fitness staff, maintain fitness equipment, assist with equipment purchasing. Assist with data collection and program assessment for all Fitness programming and implementing professional development opportunities for fitness area staff. Work collaboratively with other service units within Barnes Center to facilitate and manage exercise prescription program participants. Serve as a committee leader where applicable, and an active participant, contributing to planning, decision-making, and program development in assigned areas.
