Job Description

Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple? Summary Assist with managing the operation of the aquatic's facility, programs, events, and the lifeguards. Assist with the opening and closing of the pool. Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays. This is a seasonal position at the aquatics division and the start of a 3rd season and has maintained current certification. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assists Pool Manager in planning, training, evaluating lifeguards and monitoring pool programming Assists with the implementation of schedules, lifeguard rotation, and daily assignments Monitors activities and ensures lifeguards observe swimmers, inspect equipment and pool area is properly maintained/cleaned Provides instructions and prevents accidents in the aquatic's facilities Manages pump room procedures including chemical readings, balancing and filtration Inspects facility regularly and reports unsafe conditions/equipment to supervisor immediately Assists with special recreational activities such as athletic events, instructional programs, special projects Ensures proper rescue techniques are followed Rescues and provides first aid and/or CPR when appropriate; notifies emergency medical personnel when necessary Works at front desk operation, receives payments, and delivers great customer service to patrons Performs safety inspections and basic maintenance procedures to assure safety Ensures the pool and the related pool areas are clean and maintained Assists with programming of aquatic events Uses RecTrac for daily attendance and maintains financial and operating records/reports Attends in-service training weekly to review lifeguard skills Arrives to assigned shift on time; adheres to attendance and shift trading policies Drives between designated aquatics facilities Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Two summers of experience as a lifeguard Demonstrated leadership and exceptional customer service skills Knowledge of water safety practices and usage of water safety equipment Pass swimming skills test and basic water safety practices and usage of water safety equipment test Preferred Qualifications Experience as an Assistant Manager Bilingual in English & Spanish Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current certification with American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aide Valid driver's license Thank you for your interest in the position.
