Integrity, Respect, Familia, Culture & Community About this Position The Summer Camp Youth Leader supports the implementation and daily operations of Casa Familiar's Summer Camp Program for youth ages 6 to 12 during the months of June and July. Under the supervision of the Youth Center Coordinator, the Summer Camp Youth Leader helps create a safe, engaging, active, and supportive environment where youth can participate in educational enrichment, recreational activities, arts and culture, and social-emotional learning opportunities throughout the summer. This position works directly with children and families while serving as a positive role model and mentor to youth in the community. Key Responsibilities The following responsibilities are considered essential but do not represent all job functions that may be required. Other comparable duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed: Support the daily operations and activities of Casa Familiar's Summer Camp Program Assist with implementing educational, recreational, cultural, and social-emotional activities for youth ages 6-12 Supervise youth participants to ensure safety, engagement, and positive behavior throughout camp activities Assist with arts & crafts, sports, STEM activities, games, outdoor recreation, leadership activities, and enrichment programming Build positive and supportive relationships with youth and families Support youth participation and encourage positive peer interaction Assist with daily sign-in/sign-out procedures and attendance tracking Help maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and safe camp environment Support field trips, special events, workshops, and family activities as assigned Communicate concerns, incidents, behavioral needs, or youth support needs with supervisors Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program planning activities Serve as a positive mentor and role model for youth Other duties as assigned by the Youth Center Coordinator and Youth Services Manager Essential Skills Passionate about working with children and youth from underserved and underrepresented communities Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patient, approachable, energetic, and positive attitude Ability to engage and motivate youth in activities and group settings Reliable, punctual, and responsible Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Ability to supervise youth in both indoor and outdoor settings Culturally competent and respectful of diverse backgrounds Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred Education & Experience Minimum 6 months of experience working with children or youth in a school, recreation, after-school, camp, or community setting preferred Experience facilitating youth activities, mentoring, tutoring, or group engagement preferred Experience working with underserved communities strongly preferred Qualifications & Requirements Provide COVID-19

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Supervise and actively engage with youth during indoor and outdoor summer camp activities Occasionally lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds Bend, kneel, crouch, and sit on the floor when assisting youth Sit or stand for extended periods of time Walk for extended periods during outdoor recreation, field trips, and camp activities Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with youth, families, and staff Maintain awareness of safety hazards and respond appropriately in emergency situations Additional This is a temporary summer position running from June through July 2026. Scheduling flexibility may be required for field trips, special events, or family engagement activities. A background check is required.
