Playology is seeking an energetic, responsible, and adventurous leader to guide our Adventure Camp for children ages 10-12. This is not your typical childcare or summer camp position. Our campers spend their summer exploring Colorado, developing outdoor skills, building friendships, and experiencing adventures that many children rarely get the opportunity to enjoy. If you'd rather be on a trail than in a classroom, this may be the perfect summer job. What Makes Playology Different? Our Adventure Camp is a hybrid of traditional camp and outdoor education.
Each week may include:
Hiking local trails and open spaces Nature-based skill building Swimming outings Archery activities Elitch Gardens adventures Sky Zone visits Parks, playgrounds, and community excursions Child-led exploration and outdoor play Most days are spent out in the community rather than inside a building. The Role Adventure Camp Leaders are responsible for supervising and engaging a group of approximately 10-12-year-old campers while creating a safe, fun, and memorable experience. This position requires a high level of independence, judgment, and leadership. Leaders will often supervise their group independently during outings and activities.
Responsibilities include:
Safely supervising campers during field trips and outings Driving Playology vehicles to camp destinations Leading outdoor activities and adventures Maintaining attendance, safety, and accountability of campers Building positive relationships with children and families Managing group behavior with confidence and consistency Encouraging teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving Following Playology safety procedures and licensing requirements What We're Looking For Loves working with older elementary and middle school-aged children Comfortable leading a group independently Enjoys outdoor recreation and adventure Confident navigating parks, trails, and community activities Responsible, organized, and safety-minded Comfortable driving a Playology van Able to walk, hike, swim, and actively participate in camp activities Strong communication and leadership skills Experience in childcare, camps, education, recreation, coaching, scouting, outdoor leadership, or youth programs is highly preferred.
Schedule Full-time summer schedule:
approximately 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Part-time schedules may be available (Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday or similar combinations) Seasonal position with potential future opportunities Compensation & Perks $21-24/hour based on experience and qualifications Elitch Gardens Season Pass Annual outdoor footwear stipend to help purchase hiking shoes Playology employee benefits Paid adventures and field trips Opportunity to spend your summer exploring Colorado instead of sitting behind a desk Who Thrives Here?
