Job Summary:
The Camp/Program Leader assists in the supervision, coordination, and delivery of recreation programs, camps, and special activities for participants of various ages. This position is responsible for leading daily activities, ensuring participant safety, providing excellent customer service, and creating a fun, inclusive, and positive environment that supports the District's mission and community engagement goals.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise daily camp and recreation program activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, enrichment activities, and special events. Provide direct supervision of participants to ensure safety, engagement, and appropriate behavior at all times. Assist with implementing weekly schedules, lesson plans, themes, and program activities. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, teamwork, and leadership. Maintain accurate attendance records and account for participants during all activities, transitions, and field trips. Communicate effectively with participants, parents/guardians, staff, and supervisors. Assist with setup, cleanup, organization, and inventory of program supplies and equipment. Monitor program and camp areas for safety, cleanliness, and organization. Enforce District policies, safety procedures, and behavior expectations consistently and professionally. Respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, emergencies, and behavioral concerns; complete incident reports as required. Assist with special events, field trips, performances, and community activities as assigned. Support inclusion efforts to ensure all participants have a positive and welcoming experience. Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and orientations. Report program concerns, facility issues, supply needs, and participant concerns to supervisors promptly. Perform other related duties to support the District's Mission and Vision.
Requirements:
Minimum age requirement as established by the District (typically 16 or 18 years old). Previous experience working with youth programs, camps, recreation activities, or customer service preferred. High school diploma, current high school enrollment, or college coursework preferred. Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal). Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to create a welcoming environment and maintain a positive, professional demeanor. Flexible schedule required, including evenings and weekends.
