Job Description

The Summer Temp Aquatics Lead supports the effective operation of the natatorium through coordination of aquatic programs, facility readiness, and operational processes. This position plays a key role in ensuring scheduled activities, events, and daily operations are executed efficiently while maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming environment. This role focuses on program support, operational coordination, and facility oversight. This role also serves as a lifeguard when necessary. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Regular and predictable attendance is essential. Coordinate and schedule the execution of aquatic programs, classes, and special events, including setup, scheduling support, and logistics Assist with special events, initiatives, or projects that enhance the aquatics program Serve as a point of contact for program-related questions and assist patrons with navigating offerings and facility use. Conduct routine checks of equipment and spaces to ensure functionality and readiness Ensure program spaces and equipment are prepared, organized, and reset according to daily schedules Monitor overall facility readiness, identifying and addressing operational gaps that may impact programming Assist in developing and improving operational processes and workflows to enhance efficiency Lifeguard when necessary due to missed labor assignments of student lifeguards. Support communication efforts related to programing, schedules, or facility use Perform water testing and maintain compliance documentation, reporting concerns as needed Provide high-quality customer service and contribute to a positive customer experience Promote an environment that supports Berea College's mission and values Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty, and students. Education required to ensure success in this position: High school diploma and some college coursework in recreation, sports management, public health, or related field required Experience required to ensure success in this position: 1-2 years of experience working in recreation, aquatics, facilities, or customer service required 1-2 years experience with scheduling, event support, or facility operations Special skills, knowledge and abilities: Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to manage multiple operational tasks simultaneously Attention to detail, especially with documentation and safety compliance Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and follow through on assigned responsibilities Ability to work nights and weekends as needed License, certification, or registration necessary: Valid Driver's License American Red Cross Lifeguard certification CPR/AED certification Physical requirements: Ability to move equipment and supplies (pool equipment, lane lines, etc.) Ability to swim long distances without stopping, perform rescues, and demonstrate strong swimming skills Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to perform light to moderate physical labor Environmental conditions: Indoor pool environment with exposure to humidity, noise, and cleaning chemicals Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment: Pool maintenance and testing equipment General cleaning and facility equipment
