Overview Join our vibrant summer camp team as a Sports Recreation Leader and ignite the spirit of active fun among children and youth! In this energetic role, you will lead engaging sports and recreational activities that promote teamwork, physical development, and enjoyment. Your enthusiasm and leadership will create memorable summer experiences, fostering confidence and healthy habits in young participants. Recreation Leader - Job Description The Recreation Leader is responsible for planning and leading engaging, high-energy activities that encourage students to stay active, build teamwork skills, and have fun in a camp-style environment. This role focuses on facilitating one-hour activity blocks that keep students moving through sports, games, and structured play.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead daily one-hour recreation activities that promote physical activity and student engagement Design and prepare lesson plans for each activity Create a daily materials chart/list to ensure all supplies are organized and ready Facilitate activities that are inclusive, fun, and developmentally appropriate for grades K-8 Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and overall activity management Maintain a safe and positive environment for all participants Develop and offer alternative activity options for students who are unable or unwilling to participate in the main activity Collaborate with other camp staff, who will support students during activities, while maintaining leadership of the recreation block Actively providing support during an additional hour of programming e.g. helping a student who having a hard time getting started or finishing, modeling appropriate behavior, clean up, transitions for kids who finish earlyPreferred Skills & Qualifications:
High energy and eager to help students grow in their knowledge and abilities Strong interest in sports, games, and active play Ability to manage groups and keep students engaged Creative and flexible in adapting activities Strong communication and leadership skills Experience working with youth (preferred)Job Location & Schedule:
Rotates between 6 locations in Louisville (reliable transportation is a nonnegotiable) Monday-Thursday, Between 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM Each day includes: 1 hour leading recreation activities 1 hour providing additional support at the assigned site 30 Minutes total of setup/tear down on site Includes 2 hours of planning time per weekCompensation:
12 total hours per week $25 per hourPay:
$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 12.0 per weekEducation:
