" The department serves a population exceeding one million residents and serves the City of Charlotte, six towns, and the unincorporated areas of the county covering 523 square miles. In addition, the department manages over 21,000 acres and 230+ parks, nature preserves, greenways and facilities. POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add Temporary Aquatic Supervisors to the team! These positions will be responsible for supervising a staff and functions of aquatic programming, ensuring quality control, coordinating special projects, preparing reports, developing, and monitoring contracts. In addition, the incumbents will be responsible for coordinating and implementing staff trainings throughout the season. These positions will be required to work in various weather conditions and may be required to work weekends and holidays based on facility/business needs. These positions will be located at Ramsey Creek Beach, Cordelia Pool, and Double Oaks Family Aquatic Center. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification
  • Water Safety Instructor and StarGuard/Starfish Instructor Certification
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide professional recreation management plans such as scheduling and marketing; implement wholesome and constructive leisure activities such as public promotions and rentals; evaluate events; create program/event ideas; open and/or close an aquatic facility
  • Provide customer service; answer customer inquiries and comments; evaluate effectiveness of customer service
  • Supervise and evaluate assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, and disciplining; trains staff; advertise for staff vacancies; interview prospective employees; prepare employee goals and tasks; approve staff schedules; complete payroll
  • Makes site inspections and ensures compliance with rules, safety policies, equipment inspection and related regulations; works with County Health Department to ensure compliance
  • Generate and increase program and event revenue, attendance, and sponsorship; promote programs to project positive public image; seek and obtain sponsorships for televised events; prepare divisional promotional videos; coordinate media partnerships
  • Schedule recreational and aquatic programs, leagues, lessons, and special events
  • Prepare and/or review communications, memos, letters, invitations, e-mails and executive summaries
  • Purchase supplies and uniforms for programs; prepare purchase requisitions; ensure equipment is in good working order; schedule and oversee routine and special maintenance of equipment
  • Schedule regular maintenance of pool equipment and schedules outside vendor maintenance work
  • Ensure pools are chemically balanced
  • Ensure the safety of patrons and staff in and around the pools; ensure Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) criteria are met pertaining to maintenance, MSDS, chemicals, and handling
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing aquatic programs, including cash management, and recreation experience; One (1) year of Supervisory Experience.
Education:
Bachelor's degree Combination of relevant experience and education accepted?:
Yes Licenses/Certifications:
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges.; First Aid and CPR/AED; CPR for the Professional Rescuer; Lifeguard Certification; Bloodborne Pathogen; Ability to get Lifeguard Instructor certification within 6 months of hire.
