Script Supervisor

Script Supervisor will act as the editor's and director's "eyes and ears," tracking every detail of a scene—such as actor movements, wardrobe, props, and lighting—to ensure continuity and make sure all filmed shots can be seamlessly edited together.

Pre Production duties may include:

Script Breakdown:

Analyzing the script page-by-page, tracking characters, actions, and story days.

Timing:

Will time the script to estimate the final run time of the project.

The Master Breakdown:

They generate detailed reports that assist other departments (wardrobe, hair, makeup, and props) in maintaining story accuracy.

On Set Duties May Include:

Continuity Tracking:

Carefully monitor actors' eye-lines, movements, and prop placement to prevent jarring visual inconsistencies between different takes and angles. Liaison to

Post-Production:

They take copious notes on what happened during every take (how long it took, which take the director liked best—known as the "circle take").

Editor's Logs:

They generate comprehensive daily reports that give the editor a map of everything shot, ensuring that the film doesn't suffer from missing coverage or continuity errors (Some duties may be included or excluded from the above)
