Visual Arts Manager Position Overview:

The Summer Camp Supervisor will work with the Visual Arts Manager, year-round Visual Arts & Education staff, and 8 seasonal camp assistants to oversee the day-to-day operations of the ArtsQuest Summer Art Camp. This includes scheduling staff, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for campers, maintaining organized and safe classroom spaces, and assisting Teaching Artists with classroom needs. In addition to Summer Art Camp, the Summer Camp Supervisor will work with seasonal staff to develop and prepare projects for the Crayola Creativity Tent at Musikfest, and work shifts at the Crayola Creativity Tent throughout the festival. Job Responsibilities Supervise the work of the Summer Camp Assistants and lead staff through daily and longer-term projects. Manage check-in and check-out of campers, including checking IDs, each day of camp. Ensure that the camp day runs on schedule. Including recesses, lunch, dismissals, and breaks for part-time staff. Supervise campers during drop-off, pick-up, breaks, and during extended hours of Summer Art Camp. Work with staff and Teaching Artists to prepare for and install weekly Art Party. Assist in classrooms with classroom management, facilitating lessons, and more. Manage issues with camper behavior. Conduct routine supply inventory, and communicate any needed supplies to Visual Arts Managers Maintain clean, safe, and organized classrooms. Create staff schedule and manage any day-to-day changes and call-outs. Develop and prep for craft projects and community art projects offered Musikfest, Soccerfest, and other ArtsQuest events. Facilitate crafts at Musikfest, Soccerfest, and other ArtsQuest summer events as needed. Communicate daily with Visual Arts Manager to ensure any concerns are addressed quickly and effectively. Know, follow, and enforce all policies associated with Summer Art Camp. Responsible for other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned by members of the Visual Arts and Education Department.

Hours of Work:

During Summer Camps:

Supervisor will work a 36-40 hour week, Monday through Friday from 7:45am-3:45pm, or 10:00am-6:00pm.

During Musikfest:

or 10 am to 6 pm (to assist with after care) during Summer Camps.

During Soccerfest:

Soccerfest runs from June 11

• July 19. Assistants can expect to work 1-2 shifts at Soccerfest over the course of the summer, facilitating crafts or other projects. Dates and timing of shifts are still TBD. During Musikfest (July 31
• August 9th): Summer Art Camp staff will work split shifts from 11:30am to 9:30pm for all 10 days of the festival.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred in early childhood education, fine art, art history or equivalent work experience; High School Diploma Required.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred,
• Previous experience working with children is a plus.
• Must have the ability and desire to work in a team environment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English; bi-lingual ability in Spanish or other language is a plus
• Criminal History and PA Child Abuse Clearances required
• Must enjoy working with children and the arts
• Knowledge of visual arts desired
• Strong problem-solving skills and creativity are desired
• Outstanding interpersonal skills; ability to interact with both children and adults
• Reliable transportation to travel between facilities as needed

Physical Abilities Required:

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel frequently
• Ability to see, hear, speak, and listen frequently
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally with or without assistance or reasonable accommodation
• Ability to work indoors in the air conditioning and outdoors in all types of weather conditions when necessary
