Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Direct and participate in the maintenance of the golf course greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and cart paths; supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required. PRIMARY DUTIES
Assist in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and cart paths; schedules work and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment. Instruct equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment; preventative maintenance, and enforces safe working conditions with all job assignments. Prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work. Spot check equipment for performance on the course, frequently makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use. Is responsible for shop area maintenance. Complete requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies. Repair the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed. Perform fertilizer and chemical applications to greens, tees, fairways, and roughs. Perform routine daily maintenance on the course. Perform equipment maintenance on all golf course equipment and golf carts, and keeps accurate records of such. Assist in the personnel management and safety of golf course employees Perform additional duties as required. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course greens, tees, fairways, and bunkers; the seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including pumps and automatic controls. Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; to prepare clear and concise reports; and to maintain effective employee and public relations. Current state pesticide applicator certification required. Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, field days and trade shows. Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repair. Working knowledge of the proper methods of servicing golf course equipment, and the repair and adjustment of power mowing equipment. Valid driver's license required. WORKING CONDITIONS
Job requires weekend and holiday work during the golf season. Machine shop environment and construction job site activities, which may include walking, climbing, and bending, in a normal construction environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds. HAZARDS OF THE JOB
Employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, as well as wet and slippery conditions. May be occasionally exposed to direct sunlight, dust, pollen, and equipment exhaust fumes. May need to traverse rough and uneven terrain and paved and unpaved trails. May occasionally works with toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when around machinery or equipment. May be exposed to the following natural elements, dust, insects, and conditions that could be hazardous or dangerous. Pay:
