Job Description

Background and Description Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington is a nonprofit visual arts organization in Arlington, Virginia. Located in an historic school building near the Virginia Square Metro, MoCA Arlington operates as a small non-collecting museum with nine galleries, two classrooms, and 12 artist studios. Its mission is to enrich community life by connecting the public with contemporary art and artists through exhibitions, educational programs, and artist residencies. Position Description Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington is seeking qualified individuals to act as MoCA's Summer Camp Team Lead for our upcoming summer camp season running from June 22 through August 21. The Summer Camp Team Lead is the primary point of contact for campers, families, instructors, and adult students at MoCA. In partnership with the Education Coordinators, it is the Summer Camp Team Lead's responsibility to meet the mission of the organization, cultivate community relations, and maintain a safe and welcoming educational environment for campers, families, and adult students. MoCA will be hiring two Team Leads, one to work onsite at MoCA and one offsite at Marymount University where we will be holding out teen summer camps. About the Position This is a seasonal position for summer 2026, from June 22 through August 21. The Summer Team Lead will be expected to be onsite for 27.5 hrs a week between 8:15 am - 1:45pm OR 12:15 - 5:45 pm at $20 an hour. Summer Team Leads are responsible for the following: Supervise camp transitions, including sign-ins/outs, lunch/recess, and aftercare. Communicate with campers/families, instructors, education assistants, interns, and staff to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for educational programs; be primary point of contact to resolve behavioral challenges and administer first-aid. Register campers and adult students for educational programs through ASAP Registration + Management Software; generate course confirmation emails; attendance sheets; and emergency contact sheets. Organize and purchase art supplies. Assist instructors in classrooms, as needed. Draft instructor contracts. Generate marketing content to document and promote MoCA's education program. Assist with the daily maintenance of classrooms and building's common areas, including restrooms. Research and develop other projects, including classrooms as places of learning, examination of scholarship overhaul. Other tasks, as assigned. Please note staff and instructors are to wear masks during summer programs.
An ideal candidate:
Has 2+ years of experience with children and or teens. Preference will be given to candidates who have or are studying elementary education and/or studio arts. Has strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service, experience with administrative management. An independent worker. An interest in arts and elementary education. Must be comfortable being outdoors for an hour at a time. Experience with Google suites, Microsoft Office. The employee is required to stand for long periods of time, should possess the ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. CPR certification required (Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED). If you are not already certified, MoCA will work with you to get certification. Candidates must pass a national background check, must have reliable transportation, and must be over the age of 18.
