This is an unpaid internship designed to provide hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, and event management. Position Overview BGCO is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Development Intern to support our fundraising, community engagement, and strategic growth efforts. This role is ideal for an individual looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit management, fundraising operations, and event execution. Given the targeted 5-10 hour weekly commitment, this position focuses on high-impact administrative and analytical support that directly fuels our development team.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Logistics Support:
Assist with the coordination, planning, and tracking of upcoming BGCO fundraising events and community campaigns. Manage guest lists, RSVP tracking, and outreach materials.
Donor & Prospect Research:
Conduct targeted research on prospective corporate partners, foundational grants, and more. Identify alignment between prospect priorities and BGCO programs.
Meeting Briefs & Preparation:
Prepare concise executive briefing memos ahead of donor meetings and community stakeholder presentations. Summarize key stakeholder backgrounds, past touchpoints, and potential partnership opportunities. Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with a sharp attention to detail. Ability to synthesize information quickly and write clear, concise summaries. Proficiency with standard office software (Google Workspace or Microsoft Office); familiarity with CRM databases (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge) is a plus but not required. A passion for youth development and supporting the Oakland community.
