Event Coordinator Claremont United Church of Christ Claremont, CA Job Details Part-time $26 - $28 an hour 7 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Hospitality Computer operation Volunteer management Customer service Writing skills Full Job Description Claremont United Church of Christ is a progressive, LGBTQ-affirming and vibrant 1,000-member church in Claremont, CA. We are hiring a Director of Fellowship and Adult Education, or our "Ambassador of Joy", who will help oversee our fellowship groups at the church and help facilitate events that connect people to each other. The Director will also help coordinate exciting opportunities for learning in the church such as lectures, movie screenings, and book groups.
Responsibilities Include:
Fellowship:
- Ensure that all of the fellowship groups at the church are thriving and meeting at least on a bimonthly basis.
- Take the lead in creating and attending events for our Gen-Z, Millenial, and Silent Generation fellowship groups.
- Help our Deapartment of Children, Youth, and Families to create intergenerational events that connect people across the age spectrum.
- Staff our Fellowship Board and help carry out Fellowship Board events such as Easter hospitality, Church Picnic, Ice Cream Socials, Fat Sunday and more.
- Help maintain our Sunday morning hospitality and oversee baristas who provide coffee on Sundays.
- Coordianting monthly Brunch Church events.
- Coordinating biannual workshops for strengthening romantic relationships. Adult Education
- Create programming for learning at the church such as quarterly lectures, book groups, movie screenings, and more. General
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Follow CUCC Policy and the procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Work independently and as part of the church staff and lay leadership teams to supports CUCC's mission and vision.
- Perform tasks in a manner consistent with standards of professional practice including confidentiality, a strong work ethic, self-direction, conflict management, and good communication.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Highly skilled in volunteer management.
- Capacity to work well with people from the surrounding community, volunteer laity, and diverse church membership.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
- Outgoing, friendly personality with a sense of Christian mission, as well as a sense of humor.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Excellent customer service.
Physical Demands:
- The person in this position must be able to work while both sitting and standing/traversing throughout each work shift. Sitting 50%, Standing/Traversing 50%
- Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office environment to access cabinets, office machinery, etc. Frequently repeating motions that may include wrists and hands, standing and bending
- Occasionally need to lift/move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
