Director of Development Position Overview The Event & Youth Team Coordinator leads our Servant Leader Program, including the recruitment, coaching, and support of family, business, and student teams participating in the annual Walk4Water fundraising event. This role empowers middle school, high school, and college students to become advocates for clean water while guiding 40 teams to raise $5,000 to restore an abandoned water well in Uganda. This position will also be the main event coordinator for our two major events, our Gala and Walk4Water. The Servant Leader Program is a free, guided program that helps educators teach about the importance of service, advocacy, and clean water, culminating in real-world impact, engaging students in solving the world water crisis through interdisciplinary lessons, community collaboration, empathy building, and hands-on fundraising for our annual Walk4Water educational experience. Students experience the life-saving impact of their own creativity, talent, collaboration, and leadership in solving the world water crisis while learning meaningful and practical job skills that will enhance their future. Event Coordination Serve as the main event coordinator for each of our two annual events, the Gala and Walk4Water, handling all the logistics necessary to make this event happen. Coordinate Volunteers for each event, making sure they're in the right spot at the right time. Secure venue, working with them to see production all the way through, from the menu, decor, layout, Audio & Video, and any other necessary details. Secure vendors, coordinating with them, making sure they are on site at the appropriate time, and that they have everything we need from them Assign and manage Co-chairs for each event in order to secure the following: Silent and Live Auction items, prizes, and filled tables Youth Team Recruitment & Engagement Recruit and build relationships with schools, youth groups, and student leaders to participate in Walk4Water. Support the formation of student Youth Ambassador Teams. Coordinate outreach to teachers, school administrators, youth groups, churches, and community partners. Occasional speaking engagements at churches/youth groups, or events. Coaching & Mentorship Coach student team leaders on fundraising strategies, goal setting, and leadership development. Provide ongoing mentorship to youth ambassadors throughout the campaign. Host training sessions and check-ins to keep teams motivated and on track. Fundraising Support Guide each team in reaching the $5,000 fundraising goal to restore a water well. Share fundraising resources, campaign ideas, and storytelling tools. Track team progress and provide encouragement and accountability. Partner with other WOL staff to attain corporate/other sponsors for the events. Communication & Reporting Maintain regular communication with student teams, parents, school partners, families, and businesses. Track fundraising progress and participation metrics. Share impact stories demonstrating how student efforts help restore wells in Uganda. Qualifications Passion for global clean water access and youth leadership development. Experience in fundraising, nonprofit programs, or youth leadership. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to motivate and mentor students. Organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple teams. Experience with event coordination or peer-to-peer fundraising is a plus. Self-actualized, emotionally mature individual who works collaboratively in a team environment and partners well with all other WOL staff.
