Hourly - Facility Attendant (Athletics & Buildings/Special Events) City of Walnut Creek - 4.7 Walnut Creek, CA Job Details Part-time $20 - $25 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Outdoor work Driving First aid and CPR Full Job Description Position Description The City of Walnut Creek Arts + Recreation Division is seeking to hire multiple dependable part-time Facility Attendants to serve as on-site staff members overseeing various locations of City property, services, and events. From preparing spaces for art classes and wedding receptions to assisting with sports programs and gym rentals, Facility Attendants play a vital role in creating exceptional experiences for our community. Job openings are available in two areas:
Athletics :
Overseeing outdoor athletic fields, including grass and synthetic turf, or overseeing indoor recreation spaces such as gymnasiums.
Buildings/Special Events :
Supporting rental spaces such as community centers and libraries, preparing indoor and outdoor spaces for art classes, wedding receptions, and community events. Candidates who apply to this job are able to be considered for one or both areas. Interest in either (or both) areas can be indicated in your application's Supplemental Questionnaire. This is a part-time, hourly, non-benefitted position with varying hours ranging between 8-20 hours per week. Typical shift schedules are as follows:
Athletics:
Weekday afternoons and evenings (approximately 4:00 PM - 10:30 PM), weekends, holidays, and seasonal assignments.
Building/Special Events:
While evenings, weekends, and some holiday hours are needed, we are also looking for candidates who will be able to cover shifts on weekday mornings. Why Work with Us? Representative Duties What Athletics Attendants Will Do:
Monitor synthetic turf fields and gymnasiums during permitted use; Monitor building and equipment needs, including equipment setup and building safety; Provide outstanding customer service to community members (mostly athletes and their family/friends); Ensure compliance with facility rules, permits, and City policies; Serve as the on-site lead staff and primary point of contact; Unlock and secure facilities, gates, and lighting assigned; Provide customer service and assist renters and participants; Respond to incidents and complete basic reports as needed; Report safety concerns, maintenance issues, or policy violations, and Assist with training other attendants when assigned. Ability to understand and make policy decisions to diffuse conflicts
What Buildings/Special Event Attendants Will Do:
Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for rentals, classes, and events; Provide outstanding customer service to all facility users; Observe facilities to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with City policies; Perform light custodial tasks (e.g., mopping, emptying trash, cleaning spills); Assist with basic A/V setup (e.g., projectors, microphones, music); Respond to incidents, complete reports, and provide first aid supplies when needed. Qualifications Guidelines Candidates for either role should aim to meet the following criteria: Be at least 21 years old; Have availability on evenings, weekends, and some holidays; Demonstrate reliability, dependability, resourcefulness, and independence; Willingness and ability to work outdoors and walk/stand for extended periods, and CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain certification). Candidates interested in the Athletics Program should also possess a valid Class C Driver's License. Essential physical duties for both positions include: Bending, stooping, standing, and sitting for long periods of time; Light custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning of windows and facility/sport equipment; Carrying, lifting, rolling, sliding, and maneuvering equipment such as large round and rectangular tables and large volleyball net poles (equipment ranging 40 to 75 pounds). Training will be provided for all duties. While some duties will be performed with a colleague, most will be completed independently.
