The Erie Community Center (ECC) is looking for energetic, organized, and customer-focused team members to join us as Manager on Duty
  • Special Events to support a variety of exciting community, youth, and special events.
In this role, you'll help create memorable experiences for guests by assisting with event operations, coordinating logistics, supporting staff and volunteers, and ensuring events run safely and smoothly from setup to teardown. Whether helping lead a large community event or supporting day-to-day recreation operations, you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality programs that bring people together. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and professional in dynamic situations are essential. Anticipated Work Schedule:
Part-time to include early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed; not to exceed 130 hours/month on average. Schedule may vary depending on program specific needs.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Manager Duties Assist the Coordinator in performing daily duties in a variety of recreation and special event operations. This includes, but is not limited to, community events, special events, and youth events. Act as Manager on Duty and lead or assist with event operations and aid in internal and external special events. Provide exceptional guest service to all guests. Respond to information requests, comments, and complaints from the public. Maintain work area, facilities, equipment, and reports. Set up, tear down of event related equipment required, including but not limited to tables, chairs, tents, trash cans, signage, and other event related items. Inspects for safety hazards. Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings. May assist with training staff or volunteers. Ensure the safety of guests and program participants by enforcing all rules and policies with staff and guests. Remain composed and makes sound judgments in any emergency or non-emergency situation. Respond to emergency situations, administers first aid, CPR, or other medical attention as needed, and complete incident reports. Maintain frequent communication with staff within the Community Center and Division and reports any issues or concerns with inventory, facility conditions, policies and incidents to supervisory staff as needed. Provide direct supervision for staff and volunteers for internal events as well as events conducted by outside organizations. Manage event supply inventory to include preparing and collecting supplies, monitoring inventory, and making recommendations for new purchases Other/Miscellaneous Perform other related duties as assigned Town Wide Expectations/Duties Serve as a professional ambassador of the Town by maintaining a professional image, a team-based collaborative approach, and high ethical standards. Inspect facilities and program areas to ensure a safe environment. Report safety concerns as needed Interpret, communicate, and enforce all Department, Town, County, State and Federal policies and procedures within areas of program responsibility. Complete all required safety trainings in a timely manner and ensures staff compliance Develop and accomplish goals and objectives to support the Department and Town mission Minimum Qualifications Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED preferred. One-year related customer service, recreation or related experience preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Certificates/Licenses/Registrations Ability to obtain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications within three months of hire.
