Job Description

HIRING RANGE
$19 - $21/hour
JOB SUMMARY
Provides support to the Heritage, Culture & the Arts Division by delivering excellent customer service to rental clients administratively as well as during private rental events. Provides event oversight for daytime and nighttime event rentals. Provides administrative support to Rental Coordinator on an as needed basis. Supports the set-up, execution, oversight, and tear-down of festivals, amphitheater programs, community events as available. The City of Lakewood is currently recruiting variable employees for this position. A variable employee is an at-will employee who works in a seasonal or temporary capacity. Their work schedule is based on business need. This position would be a part-time non benefitted position.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
Event dates include but are not limited to: Wednesday, June 3 Friday, June 5 Saturday, June 6 Wednesday, June 17 Wednesday, June 24 Thursday, July 2 Friday, July 3 Wednesday, July 8 Wednesday, July 17 Wednesday, July 22 Saturday, July 25 Wednesday, July 29 Saturday, August 22 Sunday, August 30 Sunday, September 6 Thursday, October 1 Friday, October 2 Saturday, October 3 Sunday, October 4 Monday, October 5 Various dates in October, November, and December as well as many added dates throughout the summer.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Rental Events Provide excellent internal and external customer service. Make situational decisions based on sound judgment during scheduled shifts. Confirm that requested supplies and equipment are available for rentals as assigned. Set up signs, tables and chairs for rentals and other meetings or events on an as needed basis. Serves as the main point of contact for nighttime and weekend rentals as assigned. Responds to the shifting needs and priorities of the clients. Cares for the historic structures and rental spaces. Frequently monitor for newly added events and update availability via spreadsheet. Responds within 24 hours to text message correspondence from Rental and Community Events Coordinators. Community Events Set-up and strike/tear-down equipment including but not limited to tables, chairs, tents, temporary event fencing, trash cans, signage, and other supplies for the implementation of community events. Serves as an on-site support staff person in the coordination of community events. Anticipates event operational needs and responds to requests and inquiries of event exhibitors, vendors, contractors, and suppliers as directed or appropriate. Rental Program Administration Special administrative projects as assigned. Schedule and conduct tours for prospective clients. Process rental and community events payments in CivicRec. Routinely respond to programmatic email as needed. Ordering marketing material reprints as needed.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Supervision Received Receives direct supervision from the Rental and Community Events Coordinators.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education High School Diploma Criminal background check is required. Experience Customer service. Working with equipment set up and take down or Event production or Hotel/banquet set-up experience.

Ability to demonstrate good judgment/problem-solving skills in a creative and timely fashion. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to effectively interact with a variety of staff and volunteers and with the public. Ability to work long hours as required. Ability to operate golf cart in a safe manner. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting and Carrying Work involves lifting items that may weigh up to 60 pounds, pushing, climbing, bending, reaching, and moving about. Post offer physical is required. Pushing and Pulling Work includes pushing tables, chairs, carts, and other items of varying weights; using assistance if needed. Body Positions Work involves moving about various facilities as well as climbing on ladders, bending and reaching to retrieve and move items and perform tasks. Bending, kneeling, stooping and moving about from location to location. Drives golf cart around sites. Hearing Must be able to respond to requests in person. Vision Uses vision to operate motorized vehicles and equipment, to read written materials and perform duties in a safe manner. Must read instructions, diagrams, equipment lists, etc.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Mathematics Use basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Remembering Must remember directions from supervisor and others. Language Ability Must be able to communicate verbally with a variety of people. Reasoning Must demonstrate sound decision-making ability regarding a variety of issues.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is physical in nature. Work involves frequent interruptions and shifting priorities. Work is primarily performed outdoors with exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
EQUIPMENT USED
Drives golf cart. Two way Radio Telephone Ladder Dollies and other wheeled moving devices. Pay Range $15.16-$19.61 Background and reference checks will be conducted for all regular and some variable/seasonal positions.
