Full Job Description Title:
Events Associate FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt, Full-time Bring Events to Life For a Mission That Matters Do you love planning events that people remember and that make a real difference? As an Events Associate at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL), you'll turn creative ideas into meaningful experiences that raise funds, build community, and support animals in need. From crowd-favorite Yappy Hours and Doxie Dash to signature events like the Raise Your Paw Auction and Cats Meow, you'll play a hands-on role in bringing each event to life. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, enjoys collaboration, and finds energy in connecting people to a purpose. What You'll Do In this role, you will plan and execute a wide range of fundraising and community events from start to finish. You'll coordinate logistics, manage vendors, and keep timelines on track while ensuring each event runs smoothly and leaves a lasting impression. Building relationships will be a key part of your success, as you'll work closely with sponsors, community partners, staff, and dedicated volunteers who help make these events possible. You'll also contribute to promoting events through email, social media, and website updates, helping drive attendance and engagement. Behind the scenes, you'll monitor budgets, track outcomes, and look for opportunities to improve and grow each event's impact. In addition to scheduled fundraisers, you may support other revenue-generating efforts, such as facility rentals or special initiatives, as opportunities arise. What You Bring You bring a strong sense of organization and attention to detail, along with the ability to manage multiple moving pieces at once. You are comfortable communicating with a variety of audiences and approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset and professionalism. This role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, with additional education in a related field preferred, along with two or more years of event planning or similar experience. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift, and you take pride in producing polished, accurate work. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected, while experience with budgeting or Blackbaud is a plus. A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is also required. Working Conditions This role includes physical activity such as lifting up to 50 pounds, along with periods of standing or sitting for extended amounts of time. Events may take place outdoors in varying weather conditions, and the work environment will include a shelter setting with exposure to animal-related elements such as dander, odors, and the possibility of scratches or bites. Why Work at ARL At ARL, your work directly supports lifesaving programs and strengthens the bond between people and animals. Every event you help create plays a role in that mission. You'll be part of a passionate, collaborative team that values the impact of their work and the connections built along the way. Employment in this position is at-will, meaning that either the employee or ARL may terminate the employment relationship at any time. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and applicable state regulations, ARL provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities and encourages applicants to discuss potential accommodations.
