Campus, ILLINOIS Summary The purpose of this position is to give real world experience in a conference and event services office to a currently enrolled THEM student. The role of the Conference & Event Services' Intern encompasses that of a customer service first problem solver, interpreter of policies, event coordinator and a resource person. Essential Functions Conference & Event Services' Interns will be responsible for all duties and responsibilities of the Office Assistant position, the Office Assistant Lead position and the C&ES Event Specialist position. Duties and responsibilities will progress at an acceptable pace in line with the intern's abilities. These duties and responsibilities will include assisting the Conference & Event Services staff with all facets of conference/event processes and taking the lead on assigned projects and events/conferences.Duties/responsibilities may include:
Assist in the reservation process of all spaces managed by Conference & Event Services Perform general office functions such as creating and updating spreadsheets, responding to calls/emails, coordinating details between clients and campus partners, and preparing materials for conference and events (signage, name badges, conference packets, etc.) Serve as on-site representative of Conference & Event Services, as needed, assisting with client needs before and during conferences and events working to ensure client expectations on food/beverage, setup, a/v equipment, staffing, etc. are met and proactively responding to needs and requests that may arise. Minimum Qualifications Experience with a providing exceptional customer service in a professional environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong oral and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail, proven ability to problem solve, dependable and flexible. Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as in a team environment. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for long periods of time with reasonable accommodations. Must be enrolled inTHEM 4880
for the duration of employment in this position. Additional Information Flexible hours. Must be available nights and weekends, as needed.
