Job Description

Event and Member Engagement Director 8060 West Oakton Street, Niles, IL 60714 $20 an hour - Part-time $20 an hour - Part-time The Niles Chamber of Commerce & Industry is seeking a part-time Event & Member Engagement Coordinator to support Chamber events, member communications, and outreach efforts. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, is organized, comfortable juggling details, and wants to be part of a small but active organization that plays a visible role in the local business community. The Chamber hosts a wide range of programs throughout the year, including networking events, ribbon cuttings, educational programs, signature events, business celebrations, and community partnerships. This role will help ensure those events are well-organized, welcoming, and professionally executed, while also supporting member engagement and follow-up. Key Responsibilities Event Coordination Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of Chamber events and programs. Coordinate event logistics, including pre-event registration, set up, signage, materials, and on site project management. Help manage event check-in and provide a welcoming experience for members and guests. Communicate with venues, sponsors, speakers, and attendees as needed. Support post-event follow-up, including thank-you notes, attendance tracking, and basic reporting. Attend occasional evening events and rare weekend events. Membership Outreach Assist with outreach to current, new, and prospective Chamber members. Help welcome new members and encourage participation in Chamber programs. Make follow-up calls or emails related to membership, event attendance, sponsorships, and renewals. Maintain accurate member information in the Chamber database. Help identify opportunities to connect members with events, resources, and other businesses. Administrative & Communications Support Assist with preparing event materials, email content, flyers, social media details, and website updates as needed. Help maintain organized records for events, sponsorships, attendance, and member engagement. Provide general office support related to Chamber programs and member services. Work collaboratively with Chamber staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A friendly, professional, and customer-service-oriented approach. Comfort communicating by phone, email, text, and in person. Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through on details. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. Willingness to learn Chamber database, email, and event management tools. Dependability, flexibility, and a sense of humor when the name tags go missing five minutes before check-in. Prior experience in event coordination, customer service, nonprofit work, membership organizations, hospitality, or administrative support is helpful but not required. Schedule & Compensation This is a part-time position with flexible hours. General office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and we can plan your 20-25 hour work week in a way that is best for you. Some evening events are required, with rare weekend events. The position pays $20 per hour .
