CITY OF BLOOMINGTON PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT JOB OPPORTUNITY TEMPORARY PART TIME, EVENT SUPERVISOR, SWITCHYARD PARK DESCRIPTION
Provide on-site event support with an emphasis on delivering high-quality customer service to event organizers, vendors, and guests.
Responsibilities include:
  • Set up and tear down event equipment and supplies, including tables, chairs, and audiovisual components.
  • Secure facilities by opening and locking event spaces.
  • Perform routine custodial tasks, including trash removal, restroom sanitation, and general cleaning.
  • Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Apply a working knowledge of safety regulations and assist with implementing safety protocols.
  • Serve as an informational and public relations resource for the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Maintain required reports and documentation.
  • Perform other event-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the public, think quickly, and exercise sound judgment is required. Candidates must be self-motivated. Experience in customer service, event support, or custodial work is preferred.

The successful candidate is reliable, professional, and accountable, with strong customer service skills and sound judgment. This individual can effectively balance supporting the success of events while enforcing facility use guidelines. The position often functions as the sole Parks and Recreation representative on site, requiring independence, confidence in decision-making, and the ability to represent the department professionally.
REQUIREMENTS
Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification. Training is available through the Parks and Recreation Department if needed. HOURS The schedule is event-driven, with most shifts occurring during evenings and weekends. Typical hours range from 14 to 28 hours per week, with potential shifts on weekdays from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. SALARY $16.86 to $17.06 per hour.
