The Kansas Health Institute (KHI) is seeking a Learning Center and Events Manager to lead operations and growth of the KHI Learning Center, a premier educational and convening space in Topeka that hosts policymakers, community leaders, nonprofit organizations and partners from across Kansas. This dynamic role combines event management, customer service, marketing and business development, offering the opportunity to shape how organizations experience one of the state's most respected meeting and learning environments. As the Learning Center and Events Manager, you'll oversee everything from client relationships and event execution to marketing strategies that increase utilization of the space. You'll work closely with a collaborative communications team, interact with leaders from across Kansas and play a key role in advancing KHI's mission to support healthier communities through education and engagement. The role combines Learning Center operations, event management, customer experience, marketing and communications support. The Manager works to ensure seamless, high-quality events while expanding bookings, strengthening client relationships and supporting internal communications operations. What You'll
Do:
Learning Center Operations and Event Execution Plan and execute activities related to events, including scheduling, setup, catering, audio/video and onsite management. Lead day-to-day operations of the KHI Learning Center. Implement Learning Center operational policies and procedures. Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external clients. Ensure exceptional customer service and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Monitor Learning Center performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, client experience and facility utilization. Business Development and Marketing Assist with developing and implementing strategies to increase Learning Center utilization and expand client engagement, with a goal of consistent weekday use. Build and maintain relationships with Learning Center clients and partners. Assist in recommending pricing strategies that are aligned with the organization's mission and revenue goals. As part of the communications team, develop marketing and outreach materials and strategies to promote the Learning Center. Systems, Logistics and Vendor Coordination Manage scheduling systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools and event calendars. Coordinate with vendors and oversee inventory and supplies. Maintain accurate event records and reporting. Communications and Administrative Support Support Strategic Communication and Engagement (SCE) team initiatives. Maintain and track unit budget records, including monitoring expenditures. Collaborate with the Director of SCE on purchasing, invoice processing and reconciling receipts. Assist with dissemination of communications materials and event-related outreach. Provide logistical and administrative support for internal and external engagements. Team Collaboration Collaborate with team members and support internal events. Contribute to a positive, solutions-oriented team environment. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, marketing, communications or related field (or equivalent experience). 3-5+ years of experience in event planning, coordination, hospitality or marketing. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience managing or promoting an event venue. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or event management systems. Experience with budgeting, purchasing or administrative operations.
Compensation and Work Environment Details Compensation:
$59,000-$66,500 (FTE)
Schedule:
In office Monday-Friday. Required to be present before, during and after external Learning Center events, unless coverage has been arranged. Some local travel will be encouraged for networking and marketing purposes.
