Full Job Description Position Description:
Special Events Director The Special Events Coordinator serves to manage the execution of curated experiences across Kansas that draw alumni and business partners into our Scouting community. This full-time position is under the supervision of the Major Gifts Director.
Compensation:
Base salary of $50,000 / year with performance-based incentives, monthly phone stipend, and mileage reimbursement. Professional Scouting offers benefits to include major medical, prescription, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, and accidental death; compensation for authorized and approved business-related expenses; generous Vacation/PTO and holiday observances. Scouting matches 50% of 403(b) contributions up to 9% of base salary.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the planning and execution of the Annual Sporting Clays Invitational at Flint Oak, Honor Bash evening gala (Wichita), and 4-6 mid-size events across rural Kansas.
Support the On My Honor Breakfast (Wichita) and Annual Recognition Banquet (Wichita). Recruit and lead volunteer committees in securing corporate sponsorships, collecting auction items, and coordinating logistics with venues, event planners, speakers, etc.
  • Schedule, send invitations, and coordinate logistics for semiannual Eagle Scout alumni receptions in Wichita, Hutchinson, Dodge City, Salina, and Manhattan. Manage the lists of influential Eagle Scouts by city.
  • Collaborate with the Development Staff to prospect and solicit local financial support for special events. Steward strong relationships with sponsors, vendors, and community partners through exceptional service, thoughtful recognition, personal communications, and meaningful interactions.
  • Train with the new Donor Engagement Director on Bonterra for special events and donor communications. Serve as the expert on site and continue education to ensure the software is being utilized to fullest capacity.
  • Support the overall success of special events with donor research/cultivation, unit visits, data entry/collection, proposal preparation, public presentations, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Must be willing to accept and meet Scouting America's leadership and membership standards.
  • Subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not required if applicant has the appropriate work experience.
  • Attained 21 years of age or older unless prohibited by any applicable law.
  • Ability to work varied hours when necessary - traveling, evening activities, and weekend work are frequently required to achieve positive objectives.
  • Ability to travel for training at least once a year for one week.
