Full Job Description Catering Sales & Events Coordinator Location:
Baton Rouge, Louisiana Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Catering Sales & Events Coordinator to drive catering sales while assisting with the successful execution of events. This position is responsible for generating new business, maintaining client relationships, preparing proposals, coordinating event details, and potentially providing on-site support to ensure exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, sales-driven, and willing to be hands-on during events when needed. Key Responsibilities Catering Sales Generate new catering business through prospecting, networking, referrals, community involvement, and client outreach. Respond promptly to catering inquiries and convert leads into booked events. Prepare proposals, menus, estimates, and catering contracts. Conduct client consultations to determine event needs, budgets, and expectations. Follow up with prospective and existing clients to maintain strong relationships and secure repeat business. Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales goals. Maintain accurate client records, event details, and sales activity within company systems. Event Planning & Coordination Assist clients with menu selection, event logistics, service styles, and event timelines. Coordinate event details with kitchen, operations, rental, and service teams. Conduct site visits and attend planning meetings as needed. Ensure all event details are communicated accurately to internal staff. Event Support & Operations Attend catering events as required to ensure smooth execution. Assist with event setup, service oversight, and breakdown. Serve as a point of contact for clients during events. Help troubleshoot and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner. Assist with staffing coordination and event preparation when needed. Represent the company professionally at all events and community functions. Business Development & Marketing Participate in local networking events, bridal shows, chamber events, and community activities. Build relationships with venues, corporate clients, wedding planners, and event professionals. Assist with social media content, marketing initiatives, and promotional efforts. Qualifications High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in catering sales, hospitality sales, event planning, customer service, or a related field preferred. Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management or CRM software. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of catering operations and event logistics is preferred. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Ability to assist with event setup, breakdown, and operational support as needed. Schedule Requirements Primarily daytime office and sales hours. Optional opportunities to make more money, work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules. Flexibility to attend client meetings and events outside normal business hours. Compensation Competitive base salary. Commission TBD after performance reviews. Bonus opportunities based on sales performance. Mileage reimbursement for approved business travel (if applicable).
