This position also assists with other large-scale events and major campus events. Primary ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and support by raising the quality of events and the image of the University.

Lead and manage assigned events and ensure that events are tied to the mission and have a consistent feel that reinforces the University's brand.

Provide quality customer service and form positive working relationships.

Provide leadership and support to student support staff.

Additional ResponsibilitiesEvent Planning & ManagementIndependently plan and manage assigned small to mid-level events/portions of events; partner with departments to determine event goals and objectives and final event logistics.

Assist with the planning and coordination of large-scale or major campus events.

Provide onsite leadership to live events by making real-time, unsupervised decisions, directing staff and volunteers, evaluating risks and course-correcting when necessary to ensure events remain successful, on-budget and mission-centered.

Make decisions related to event logistics in partnership with on and off--campus partners including catering, public safety, facilities/custodial, IT, rental vendors, musicians and staff.

Collaborate with Marketing and Communications and event clients to maintain master web calendar content of campus events and activities and create brand appropriate event collateral where appropriate.

All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).Summer Conference PlanningIndependently plan and manage assigned summer conferences and camps including coordination of residence hall stays, event logistics, contracting, payments and end of summer reports.

Coordinate with on-campus partners such as Public Safety, campus food service, facilities, custodial and residence life as needed.

All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in events, business, communication, liberal arts or a related field1-3 years of related experience required. Prior experience working in a campus events department; may be substituted for post-collegiate experience, where appropriate.

Preferred QualificationsExperience working in higher education. Experience with AV equipment. Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesCreative, assertive and self-motivated.

Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with superb attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, strong oral and written communicationUnderstanding of relevant organizational and business processes.

Ability to multi-task and maintain deadlines.

Work Environment and Physical DemandsTypical work environment is an office. Sedentary work for long periods of time. Regular computer and phone use. Potential for longer work hours, which could include evenings and weekends.
Travel:
up to 25% local travel, and 5% non-local and overnight travel.
