Job Description

TITLE:
Events Specialist
ABOUT NAMI ST. LOUIS
NAMI St. Louis is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with a mental health condition. We provide no cost education and support, community outreach, advocacy, and public awareness in the St. Louis region to ensure all people living with a mental health condition, their family, and friends. Our goal is for people to find the help, hope and support they need.
HOURS:
The Events Specialist is a full-time position. Work is somewhat flexible as needed, but the majority of the work will be Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm in the office. Please note that most events and some services occur on weekends and evenings.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY
Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the Events Specialist works to help advance NAMI St. Louis's mission by supporting the organization's comprehensive outreach and program support, communication, and development efforts, coordinating community outreach and events.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist Director of Development with all fundraising events, campaigns, and appeals.
  • Manage all event related logistics with attention to financial and time constraints.
  • Develop, manage and execute overall community outreach, including but not limited to: solicitation of all event related participants and volunteers, and other community outreach as assigned.
  • Develop, manage and execute overall communications strategy, including but not limited to: event related communications, website content, etc.
  • Cultivate and maintain close working relationships with vendors, event participants, volunteers, media, and community partners to advance and expand NAMI St. Louis's mission.
  • Manage and execute year over year analysis of all event reporting.
  • Staff liaison on Gala, Walk, and Development board committees.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Director of Development and Executive Director
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1 year of experience in event planning experience is required.
  • Non-profit experience is preferred. Degree in hospitality management, public relations or relevant field is preferred. Able to work occasional nights and weekends.
  • Experience working with WordPress, Microsoft Office Suites, Constant Contact, and social media platforms is preferred.
Demonstrated interest and passion for NAMI St. Louis's mission. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exhibit strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Self-starter working within a team and the ability to work independently. Excels in organization, problem-solving, attention to detail, time, and project management skills. Able to handle stress and remain calm. Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines. Able to work well in a fast-paced environment while adapting quickly to changing needs of the organization. Ability to work with, relate to, and communicate with members, participants, staff, committees, donors, Board of Directors, and people from various socio-economic and diverse backgrounds in a consistently professional manner, to handle sensitive constituent issues with discretion and tact, and to be conscientious and respectful of individuals living with a mental condition and their family members and friends.
Pay:
$45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
