Job Description

Patron Services Supervisor Job Description Cain Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission of providing exceptional visual arts, performing arts, and social experiences to the Lake Norman Region of North Carolina. Founded in 2016, the organization operates two arts facilities in downtown Cornelius, and provides programs in arts education, performing arts, and community impact. It is funded through ticket sales, class and education tuition, philanthropic gifts, and local and state government grants. Position Summary This position will oversee all box office and front-of-house operations during events at Cain Center for the Arts, the courtyard between Goodrum and Puckett Pottery House, and any other venue partners. The role ensures smooth event execution, excellent patron experience, and effective supervision of box office staff. The position serves as the lead ticketing representative during events and assists with resolving patron concerns, managing ticketing operations, and maintaining customer service standards while being mindful of Cain Center's Mission, Vision, and Values. The role is considered part-time and non-exempt. The position requires approximately 10-20 hours per week. The position is considered in person, and hours are determined by the event schedule, which often includes evenings and weekends. The Patron Services Supervisor reports to the Patron Services Manager. Duties and Responsibilities Box Office/Ticketing Oversee box office operations during events. Approve or deny exchanges and refund requests according to venue policy. Sell tickets during events using the ticketing system (etix). Assist patrons with seating concerns and re-seat guests when necessary. Train and mentor Box Office Attendants on ticketing procedures and customer service expectations. Maintain accurate cash handling and transaction procedures. Ensure the box office remains organized and professional throughout events. Event Support/Front-of-House
  • Oversee front-of-house operations during events.
  • Ability to work positively and collaboratively with volunteers.
  • Supervise and support our renters, and anyone else who is utilizing our venues Working alongside technical staff for communication of events.
Handle escalated patron issues and provide professional resolutions. Ensure that excellent customer service standards are always maintained. Communicate effectively with venue staff, security, volunteers, and management during events. Ensure the lobby areas remain organized and professional throughout events. Perform other duties as assigned. Professional Qualifications and Experience Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (a bachelor's degree is preferred) in Arts Management, Theater, Business Administration, or a related field. 2-3 years of professional experience working in a box office, call center, or retail environment. Proficiency in ticketing software is highly valued. Essential Skills and Attributes
  • Previous customer service, ticketing, retail, hospitality, or event operations experience preferred
  • Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules
  • Ability to learn and operate ticketing software systems
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during events
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to move throughout the venue during active event
FLSA STATUS/CLASSIFICATION
  • Part-time and non-exempt in status.
Compensation:
$17-18/hour
