The Office of the Chancellor provides support services to the Chancellor at Fayetteville State University. The Chancellor is the institution's chief executive officer, senior administrative leader, and official spokesperson at the local, state, national, and international levels. The Office of the Chancellor coordinates and supports the activities of the Board of Trustees, serves as the liaison between the UNC System Office and the campus community, serves as the point of contact for various constituent groups served by the university, provides internal coordination and leadership on administrative matters, and provides technical and clerical support to the Chancellor. Primary Purpose of thePosition:
The Director of Special Events will serve as the centralized manager for university-wide events (e.g., homecoming, athletic events (Chancellor's Box), commencement, convocation, and signature events) and coordinate events with respective campus planning committees. The Director of Special Events will also support departments with event consultation and guidance and serve as the Events Council co-chair.Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required and a minimum of three years of experience in events management, special events coordination, meeting, and conference-related planning; successful track record in events planning and management.Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge, skills, and abilities in all forms of event management and organization. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of university structure, protocol, and procedures. Excellent major event planning and implementation skills. Must be self-motivated. Possesses excellent organizational and motivational skills. Can work with a diverse campus and community population to promote the university.Preferred Qualifications:
