Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a part-time Event Set-Up Crew Member at The Fair Barn. This event-driven position plays a key role in preparing our historic venue for a wide variety of gatherings and celebrations. The ideal candidate is flexible, professional, and ready to work hands-on to help create exceptional event experiences. Weekend, evening, and holiday availability is essential. An employee in this class is responsible for working independently, in a team, or leading a team engaged in setting up and taking down events. Work includes setting up tables, chairs, stages, etc. This employee is primarily subject to inside environmental conditions similar to that found in a banquet hall or large restaurant. Some work may be performed outdoors. Work is performed under the supervision of the Venue Coordinator but may be assigned to other teams if needed. • This is a part time position with no guarantee of hours worked, hours are event driven. Primary function of the position is to s et-up and break-down for various events. Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays and a flexible schedule is required. For more information on the Fair Barn click HERE Set-up, break-down, and store tables and chairs, stage and event equipment before and after scheduled events. Arrange set-up for event precisely as directed verbally or by written diagram. Maintain storage of tables, chairs, and other event materials and equipment in a neat and orderly manner. Report any damaged or faulty equipment to supervisor. Resolves customer complaints with input from the Special Events Coordinator as needed. Performs other assignments and special projects as required. Must be able to report to work promptly and when scheduled Project a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and timelines. Must possess a high level of customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, staff, peers and management. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer requests related to event venues. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints. Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. Ability to exercise independent judgment and to perform duties with minimal supervision. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift chairs, tables, and stage weighing up to 75 pounds. Must have the stamina and manual dexterity to work consistently for 3-4 hours with or without scheduled break time. Effective visual perception is needed for making observations including distinguishing colors, performing visual and physical inspections of event set-up, use of measurement devices. Work is performed at various dates, times and locations, based on business need. While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, kneeling, speaking, hearing and manual dexterity to arrange small details of event set-up. High school degree and driver's license are required.
