SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Park Board Coordinator is a dedicated Park Board employee responsible for planning, coordinating, scheduling, and contracting events at the Stark County Fairgrounds. The position supports and oversees Park Board operations and serves as a primary contact for facility use. The coordinator works collaboratively with the Weed Board, Road Department, and other County departments strictly on an as needed basis to ensure parks and facilities are properly maintained and prepared for events. Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Park Board
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the use of any Fairgrounds facilities.
  • Negotiate and prepare event contacts, service agreements, vendor documentation, and liquor licenses; ensure all insurance requirements are met.
  • Provide administrative support to the Park Board by coordinating and attending meetings, posting agendas, and preparing monthly reports on events, outcomes, and expenditures.
  • Participate in developing the annual budget; forecast events, track expenditures, and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee onsite event coordination including facility tours, equipment demonstrations, building access, and renter support.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce detailed facility use policies.
  • Coordinate equipment rentals, cleaning services, and sanitation services for events.
  • Develop and monitor event timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with the County Road Department, County Weed Control, and Building & Grounds strictly for operational support such as mowing, spraying, fencing, arena preparation, and other maintenance needs.
  • Supervise and direct seasonal workers, including hiring, training, scheduling, and workload management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Demands and Environment
  • Work occurs in both an office environment and outdoor settings with potential exposure to adverse weather.
  • Regular use of office equipment including computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and filing systems.
  • Frequent requirements include sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and using a keyboard. Occasional requirements include climbing, balancing, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally more.
  • Requires effective communication, data interpretation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Some evening, weekend, and holiday work is required. Education and Certification/License
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required with three (3) years of related work experience in an office setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
  • Valid ND driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Knowledge of event management, facility reservations, contract negotiation, and event planning.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and auditing practices.
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements and risk management.
  • Skill in supervising seasonal employees and promoting effective teamwork.
  • Skill in organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and QuickBooks.
  • Ability to prepare clear written, oral, and financial reports.
Pay:
$27.50 per hour
