Job Description

POSITION TITLE
Assistant
JOB PURPOSE
The Assistant provides day-to-day operational, administrative, and event support to the Executive Director and Community Outreach Coordinator. This is a highly hands-on support role that assists with a wide variety of organizational needs including office tasks, errands, event preparation, outreach support, organization, and general operational assistance. No two days in this role look exactly the same. Successful candidates are flexible, dependable, organized, and willing to jump in wherever help is needed to keep the organization running smoothly. This position is ideal for a high school senior, college student, or someone looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, events, and community outreach.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will vary based on organizational needs, events, outreach efforts, and daily priorities. Administrative & Office Support Complete bank deposits and basic data entry Prepare orientation folders, registration paperwork, and name tags Prepare and organize match activity kits and program materials Assist with mailings, stuffing envelopes, and thank-you mail preparation Enter receipts and assist with basic spreadsheet updates Run and print reports as requested Pick up reports and documents as needed Assist staff with day-to-day administrative and operational tasks Office Operations Maintain office supply inventory and assist with restocking supplies Organize office storage areas, supply closets, and event materials Monitor paper, toner, and printer supplies Complete shopping and supply runs Assist with weekly office cleaning and organization Shred documents and assist with maintaining organized office spaces Water office plants and maintain shared office areas Break down cardboard and assist with general office upkeep Outreach & Event Support Deliver flyers and recruitment materials throughout the community Hang outreach posters and event signage Assist with community outreach events and activities Prepare fundraiser and event supplies Assist with loading, unloading, setup, and teardown for events Transport supplies and materials to and from event venues Manage and organize event storage bins and materials Refill snacks and beverages during events as needed Help organize and clean storage areas following events General Support Run local errands and complete deliveries as needed Track supplies and inventory Assist with special projects and organizational needs as assigned Support staff during busy event and fundraiser periods Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational operations

Maintain confidentiality of organizational, volunteer, donor, and client information Communicate professionally and respectfully with staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and sound judgment in daily responsibilities Support the mission, vision, and values of Companions for Children Follow all organizational policies and procedures
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Current high school seniors, college students, or individuals seeking professional experience are encouraged to apply Previous customer service, office, retail, event, or volunteer experience is helpful but not required Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to multitask and adapt to changing needs Familiarity with basic computer programs and technology Positive attitude and willingness to help in a variety of capacities Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally Frequent local errands and travel within the Minot area may be required (mileage reimbursed) Employee may occasionally assist with loading, unloading, moving supplies, and event setup Evening and weekend hours may occasionally be required for events and fundraisers

Executive Director
WAGE/SCHEDULE
This is a part-time hourly position averaging approximately 10 hours per week at $13-$15 per hour. Scheduling is flexible based on organizational needs and employee availability, though some weekday daytime availability is preferred. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for events and fundraisers. Companions for Children values flexibility and aims to provide a supportive work environment while maintaining operational reliability and organizational needs.
