Job Description

Overview Kimball Jenkins (KJ) is a community-based, multi-arts educational center offering a wide range of creative, educational, and culturally-enriching programs to diverse audiences throughout the Concord area and beyond. KJ serves thousands annually through educational programs, summer camps, outreach initiatives, collaborations, and events. The Events Director is responsible for the overall leadership and management of all event-related activities at Kimball Jenkins, including both private rental and public events. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from developing and implementing innovative sales and marketing strategies to overseeing the planning and execution of all events, ensuring seamless coordination with internal departments and external vendors. The Events Director will play a crucial role in maximizing revenue streams, enhancing the guest experience, and ensuring the long-term financial success of the Events department while upholding the highest standards of quality and preserving the integrity of Kimball Jenkins' historic estate. Duties Generate a definitive sales strategy to meet and/or exceed departmental revenue goals consistently aligning with the overall strategic goals of the organization Responsible for selling all private functions, including meeting with the clients, providing site tours, determining needs, meeting those needs, and exceeding their expectations through detailed communication Prepare customized proposals and contracts Manage event from start to finish on scheduled day Maintain accurate and detailed records of all guest interactions, sales activity, and event histories Networking inside and outside KJ to obtain "leads" and build relationships with new and existing clients Represent Kimball Jenkins at industry events and conferences to enhance the organization's visibility and build external relationships Assist in the creation and maintenance of event packages and promotional materials, including brochures, website content, and social media campaigns Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and permits. Oversee the management of all events equipment inventory, ensuring proper maintenance and storage Continuously evaluate and improve event offerings based on market trends and customer feedback. Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in the events industry Work closely with the Executive and Programming Directors to oversee the management of organizational fundraising and community events Other duties as assigned. Requirements 2-4 years of experience in event planning, program coordination, or project management, ideally within a nonprofit or community organization. Solid understanding of event revenue generation with a proven track record of sales performance Proven ability in leadership, communication, and negotiating skills Ability to perform multi level tasks, troubleshoot, be flexible, think quickly and react decisively High energy and outgoing personality Organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, and Excel Team player able to foster relationships with guests and employee partners A flexible schedule, with the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays , based on event schedules Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while managing event execution . Ability to lift and move up to 25lbs (e.g., event materials, supplies) . Knowledge of fundraising activities or guest services in nonprofit or community-focused events is a plus.
