JOB SUMMARY
The Center for Catholic Studies seeks a Federal Work Study Student Worker to support the Center's daily operations, event preparation, communications, and administrative projects. This position provides hands-on experience in office support, event logistics, campus promotion, data organization, and mission-centered programming.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with general office tasks, including filing, copying, scanning, organizing materials, checking mail, and maintaining shared office spaces. Support Center events and programs by preparing materials, printing and distributing flyers, assisting with registration/check-in, organizing supplies, and helping with day-of event logistics as needed. Assist with communications and promotion, including preparing basic event materials, updating contact lists, supporting email/mail projects, and helping organize photos, flyers, and program files. Support administrative tracking by helping maintain spreadsheets, sign-in sheets, registration lists, event recap materials, and other planning documents. Assist with mass mailings, including labeling, stuffing envelopes, organizing mailing lists, and preparing materials for delivery. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a currently enrolled Seton Hall University student who is eligible for Federal Work Study. Strong attention to detail, reliability, professionalism, and ability to follow instructions. Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling office, student, financial, or program-related information. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email, and spreadsheets. Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally with faculty, staff, students, and guests.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Interest in event planning, communications, nonprofit/mission-driven work, Catholic intellectual life, higher education, or student engagement. Experience with Canva, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, social media, or campus promotion is helpful but not required. Prior office, customer service, administrative, or event support experience is preferred.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Availability:
Up to 10-15 hours per week during the academic year, scheduled around the student's class schedule and office needs. Occasional evening event support may be requested with advance notice.
Physical Demands:
May occasionally need to walk across campus to distribute flyers, deliver materials, or assist with event setup. May occasionally lift or carry light event or office materials. Federal Work Study eligibility is required for this position. Applicants should include their class year, availability, and any relevant office, event, communications, or administrative experience.
