Job DescriptionSummaryThe Albuquerque Academy Event Setups Department is seeking an individual for the position of Event Setups Team Member. This position is responsible for working independently and as a team member to support special events projects for the school. Work involves setting up and taking down events, including the delivery and removal of tables, chairs, sound systems, and other event-specific arrangements. Essential FunctionsCommunicate daily with the supervisor at the beginning of the shift.
Oversee the campus events year-round. Provide support for all Academy functions and outside events.
Deliver and set up tables, chairs, sound systems, etc. for events.
Respond to work orders. Follow supervisor direction regarding changes to work schedule and special event operations. Support the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy. Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.
Other ResponsibilitiesAttend employee meetings as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Event Support:
Execute standard setups for a wide range of campus events such as dances, banquets, meetings, receptions, celebrations, open house events, awards ceremonies and exhibitions.
Work with event coordinators to configure events to their specifications and needs. Set up and operate audio-visual equipment, lighting, and other event technologyAthletic SetupsPrepare athletic venues including striping/chalking baseball and softball fields, setting up for track and field meets, aquatics events, volleyball courts, basketball games and other sporting events.
Learn and safely operate specialized equipment such as a robotic field striper.
Campus LogisticsAssist with office relocations, classroom modifications, and general furniture logistics.
Assist with maintaining an organized inventory of furnishings and equipment.
Custodial SupportPerform custodial porter duties before, during and after events, including bathroom sanitation, event space cleaning, trash removal, and general upkeep.
Assist with custodial duties campus-wide to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
Technical & Safety ResponsibilitiesOperate power tools and hand tools safely.
Use work request software to manage and complete setup tasks efficiently.
Drive a variety of vehicles for equipment transportation and setup needs.
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while on duty. Job QualificationsEducationA high school diploma or equivalent is required.
ExperiencePrevious experience in event setups is preferred. Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of and ability to use different hand tools such as pliers, wire cutters, and hammers. Knowledge of and ability to operate golf carts, forklifts, and pick-ups with lift gates.
Knowledge of and ability to drive manual shift-type equipment such as tractors. Ability to read, understand, and follow specific instructions and safety procedures in English. Special RequirementsA valid Drivers License is required. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Working EnvironmentMajority of work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings on campus.
Work hours vary by season and event. Weekend and evening hours are required, depending on the event schedule and especially during the Fall months.
After hours work with the Physical Plant team is required during weather emergencies, snow, and water events. Physical DemandsRegular lifting and carrying of heavy items such as tables, chairs, sound equipment, backdrops, and other event materials. Extended periods of standing and walking.
Frequent bending and stooping. Frequent overhead and forward reaching. Frequent pushing and pulling of heavy equipment such as carts or tables. Occasional climbing on ladders or stairs. Extended periods of physical exertion for larger events with more equipment and intricate setups. Navigation of complex venue layouts, including tight spaces and uneven surfaces, which require balance and coordination.
Stamina to continue work over several hours. Regular work during extreme weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
