Work LocationNew York Expected duration3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe position is located in the United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (UN ODET). UN ODET was established on 1 January 2025, with a mandate to: (a) advise the senior leadership of the United Nations on key trends in technology, so as to guide the strategic approach taken by the Organization on such issues; (b) serve as advocate and focal point for digital cooperation, through engagement with Member States, the technology industry, civil society and other stakeholders; (c) facilitate multi-stakeholder policy dialogue on digital and emerging technologies; (d) strengthen system-wide coordination within and across the United Nations system on digital and emerging technologies; (e) support the follow-up and implementation of the Global Digital Compact (A/RES/79/1 Annex 1). Through the Under-Secretary-General and Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies, UN ODET also leads the implementation of the Secretary-General's vision on digital cooperation by working closely with various UN entities and multi-stakeholder groups, facilitating dialogue to accelerate global digital cooperation, seizing on the opportunities that are presented by technology

- so that progress towards achieving the Goals by 2030 can be made collectively, as well as carrying out other related duties and responsibilities assigned by the Secretary-General, including follow up actions from the Secretary-General's Roadmap for Digital Cooperation and the report \"Our Common Agenda\".
The purpose of this assignment is to support the operational planning and delivery of ODET-led and ODET-supported events during a period of increased activity.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate operational planning timelines and the implementation of assigned meetings, briefings, workshops, consultations, and outreach events.
- Prepare event documents, including checklists, speaker coordination notes, and implementation trackers.
- Maintain planning records and ensure timely circulation of key event information to relevant teams.
- Liaise with relevant teams, external participants, service providers, and venues to support smooth event preparation and delivery.
- Support participant outreach, registration follow-up, briefings, speaking confirmations, and day-of logistics.
- Assist with implementation needs related to event space, virtual platforms, accessibility, materials, and troubleshooting during delivery.
- Compile event files, attendance or participant information, and supporting documents following each engagement.
- Prepare concise post event summaries, action trackers, and follow-up notes for internal use.
- Support lessons learned documentation for strengthened event management workflows across the Office.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications/special skills
- A first-level university degree in Communications, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related degree is required.
- One year of experience in event coordination, project support, or administrative functions is required.
- Experience working with or supporting UN processes is required.
- Strong organizational skills, including logistics management and preparation of meeting or event materials, is required.
