  • Dutchess County, NY About Us The Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse (CPCA) is a nonprofit organization in Poughkeepsie, NY, established in 1973 with the goal to prevent child abuse.
Since that time, we have provided prevention programming for generations of school students, armed thousands of parents with the skills to be the best parent they can be and aided in the investigation and prosecution of hundreds of child abuse offenders. For more information about our organization visit www.thecpca.org Position Summary The CPCA is seeking to grow our team to include an entry to mid-level associate of development to help us grow our mission and donor base. This professional will assist with existing fundraisers and marketing initiatives, while also bringing new creative ideas to our organization. The Development Associate will work closely with the Development Coordinator to execute the annual fundraising and marketing plan. This position will require occasional evening and weekend events. Key Responsibilities Fundraising & Events Support planning and execution of fundraising events, including the Champions Against Child Abuse Gala , 5K , Paws & Pours for Prevention , and Giving Tuesday. Assist with appeal letters, event follow-up, and donor stewardship. Solicit local businesses for ads, auction items, and event tickets. Ensure timely donor acknowledgements and maintain accurate records/ donor database. Assist in grant writing and submissions. Marketing & Communications Create and distribute digital content, including email campaigns and quarterly newsletters. Manage and grow social media presence through consistent, mission-driven content. Design marketing materials and graphics (flyers, Save the Date cards, sponsor posters, etc). Support website updates. Collaboration & Engagement Assist the Senior Director of Development in implementing the agency's annual fundraising strategy. Build and maintain positive relationships with donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners. Participate in staff meetings and performance evaluations. This description outlines the primary responsibilities of the position but is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Required Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of Canva and basic flyer creation (you may be asked to share samples of past work) Ability to post and tag corporate supporters on various social media platforms Excellent proofreading, writing, and time management skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines High level of discretion in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive materials and issues.
Preferred:
Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Capcut video editor or equivalent, Constant Contact or Mailchimp, and Wordpress for website updates. One to two years of fundraising, development, event planning, or marketing experience. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, walk up and down stairs, and perform basic office tasks.
