Job Description

Event Captain The Events Captain is an important position at Bellawood Farm. Bellawood Farm is an exciting business, comprising a steakhouse, wood-fired pizza oven, bakery, market & butchershop, event venue, outdoor beer garden, Air BnB, and more! We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, and organized team member to provide planning, preparation, and on-site leadership and management for events at Bellawood Farm. This role includes event planning and coordination, on-site event management, and other responsibilities to help Bellawood Farm grow and be a place for people to eat, shop, gather, celebrate, and stay! Job Description & Core Responsibilities An event captain acts as the direct liaison between the sales coordinator, the guests, and Bellawood Farm staff, and provides leadership and management prior to the event, and on-site leadership and management during the event.
Key responsibilities include:
Pre-Event Preparation:
Assist in developing and managing the Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) , planning preparation activities, briefing the staff on the event requirements, and ensuring preparation, set-up, and event execution meets client specifications.
Team Leadership:
Delegating tasks to servers, bartenders, setup crews and support staff; managing shift schedules, break times, and uniform standards.
Service Execution:
Overseeing the flow of food and beverage service to ensure courses are delivered seamlessly and on time.
Guest Relations:
Addressing any client requests, special dietary needs, or unexpected issues on the floor with a high level of professionalism.
Post-Event Wrap Up:
Overseeing venue breakdown, ensuring the safe storage of equipment, and communicating any additional fees for billing to the Event Sales Coordinator.
Qualifications & Skills Organization and Management:
Close attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and the ability to manage multiple events during preparation and execution.
Communication:
Ability to provide clear and timely communication to clients, event staff, and Bellawood Farm support staff to ensure event timelines, food preparation, and event preparation are executed with precision and on-time.
Experience:
Typically requires 1 to 3 years of experience in catering, banquet services, or hospitality.
Physical Stamina:
The job often involves standing and walking for 10+ hours and lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
Soft Skills:
Excellent conflict resolution, strong leadership, and the ability to remain calm and adaptable in high-pressure situations.
