Part-Time Ropes Course/Workshop and Special Event Manager (Evenings & Weekends) Company Overview Dragon's Den (DD's) is a dynamic nonprofit located in the historic St. Mary Magdalene Church in Homestead, PA. Near the waterfront, the Great Allegheny Passage Bike Trail, and Frick Park, our facility features 800+ feet of suspended obstacles, a 20-foot rock wall, and a 160-foot zip line. Through ropes course programming and workshops, we empower youth and families through courage, teamwork, and experiential learning. All earned revenue directly supports our free community programs. Position Summary Dragon's Den is seeking a dependable and experienced Part-Time Ropes Course/Workshop and Special Event Manager to lead evening and weekend on-site operations. The Manager is responsible for ensuring safe, smooth, and engaging daily operations during assigned hours. Responsibilities include overseeing the ropes course and rock wall, following policies and procedures outlined in the manual of operations, creating team-building activities for workshops, and contributing to the planning and reporting of special events. This is a highly hands-on role involving staff supervision, program facilitation, belaying, managing group flow, and ensuring a high-quality guest experience. Reports to:
Operations & Sales Manager Schedule 20-30 hours per week Flexible schedule Mornings required Certain evenings required Weekends required Some holidays required In-person (Homestead, PA) Key Responsibilities Shift Leadership & Staff Supervision Lead ropes course and workshop operations during assigned shifts Supervise and support instructors to meet safety and service standards Assign roles and lead pre-shift and end-of-shift huddles Serve as the on-site decision-maker when the Operations & Sales Manager is not present Provide weekly reports on incidents, staffing challenges, and updates Safety & Risk Management Enforce all policies and procedures Verify daily inspections and equipment readiness Monitor participant safety at all times Document incidents and respond promptly to concerns Maintain compliance with Dragon's Den operational standards Program & Guest Experience Facilitate ropes course sessions, workshops, and special events Belay participants, support course flow, and perform rescues when necessary Lead youth groups, school visits, and family sessions Oversee birthday parties and scheduled group events Deliver a positive, engaging, mission-aligned experience Lead ropes course ground school (upper and lower course) Qualifications Minimum Requirements Must be at least 21 years old Experience supervising Strong interpersonal and communication skills Reliability, accountability, and professionalism Excellent organizational skills Ability to delegate while being a self-starter Flexibility in time and tasks Group facilitation and team-building skills with children and adults Comfortable working at heights (20+ feet) Ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment Availability for evenings, weekends, and some holidays Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and stand for extended periods Must pass background check and required clearances Minimum high school diploma Belay certification and/or challenge course experience (or willingness to obtain PA Department of Agriculture inspector certification) Current CPR/First Aid certification Reliable transportation Strong communication and conflict resolution skills Willingness to use email as the primary form of official communication Preferred Qualifications Experience in ropes course, climbing gym, or outdoor recreation Experience working with children and/or youth groups What We're Looking For Reliable and punctual team leader Takes initiative Models expectations for staff Passionate and accountable Flexible with time and tasks Strong team communication and motivation skills Safety-focused with attention to detail Confident in managing staff and participants Calm, solution-oriented, and composed under pressure Positive and engaging with youth and families Focused on safety and program quality Takes pride in personal and team performance Confident in leading and guiding staff and participants Able to receive and apply feedback Benefits Flexible part-time schedule (20-30 hours/week) Paid training and certifications Leadership experience in a growing nonprofit Opportunity to make a direct impact in the community Free and discounted Dragon's Den programs Requirements for Employment All prospective employees must submit three references and required clearances: PA Child Abuse Clearance PA Criminal Record Check FBI Fingerprint Clearance Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse:
