  • Part-time Manada Conservancy is a land trust, a type of environmental nonprofit, dedicated to preserving the natural, agricultural, scenic, and historic resources of Dauphin County through land protection, environmental education.
We envision a future where preserved land is abundant, and conservation is practiced widely for the benefit of all. We currently protect over 4,000 acres of Dauphin County. Manada Conservancy's (MC)'s Volunteer and Events Coordinator (VEC) will expand the organization's capacity by building, managing, and mobilizing a strong and engaged volunteer corps. This position is responsible for identifying organizational needs that can be met through volunteer support, developing and maintaining a pipeline of volunteer-driven work, and coordinating the planning and execution of events through staff and volunteer engagement. The VEC will serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteer engagement and event planning efforts, working closely with the Outreach Specialist to ensure effective promotion and communication. This role is central to increasing MC's impact by leveraging community involvement to support stewardship, outreach, education, and fundraising initiatives. This is a part-time non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $20
  • 23 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Average work week will consist of 20 hours with flexible scheduling but may fluctuate depending on organizational needs. This is not a remote position and is supervised by the Executive Director.

Recruits, engages, and retains volunteers to support organizational needs b. Develops and maintains a structured volunteer program to expand organizational capacity c. Identifies and maintains a pipeline of volunteer-driven projects across stewardship, monitoring, outreach, and events d. Matches volunteers to appropriate roles based on skills, interests, and organizational priorities e. Maintains and manages volunteer database, including contact information, participation tracking, and engagement history f. Works with staff to identify tasks and projects that can be completed by volunteers g. Develops systems, processes, and documentation to ensure effective volunteer coordination and continuity 2. Serves as the primary staff lead for planning and coordinating Manada Conservancy events a. Develops and maintains an annual calendar of events in coordination with staff and committees b. Coordinates logistics for events including scheduling, site preparation, materials, and staffing c. Engages and organizes volunteers to support event planning and execution d. Oversees event execution, including setup, staffing, and breakdown e. Collaborates with staff to support outreach, engagement, and organizational capacity 3. Collaborates with the Outreach Specialist to develop materials and messaging for volunteer recruitment and event promotion a. Coordinates with staff and committees (e.g., Education Committee, Communications & Development Committee) to support programming and engagement goals b. Assists in identifying opportunities to expand community engagement through volunteerism and events c. Provides regular updates to the Executive Director on volunteer engagement, event planning, and capacity-building efforts Qualifications Experience in volunteer coordination, event planning, community engagement, or related field preferred Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with diverse groups of volunteers Demonstrated ability to take initiative and develop systems or programs Prior experience in nonprofit, conservation, or community-based work a plus Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Teams, Excel) Ability to travel by automobile to meetings, events, and MC properties; must hold and maintain a valid driver's license Occasional evening and weekend work is require
