Event Coordinator Assocation of Mexican Business Owners of Philadelphia Philadelphia, PA Job Details Part-time $25 an hour 11 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Microsoft Word Computer operation Spanish Teamwork Computer literacy English Full Job Description This is a part-time (10-20 hours per week) opportunity to support the Association of Mexican Business Owners of Philadelphia (AEM) with the planning and execution of public events including at least one large public festival and up to four block parties. AEM is a group of immigrant merchants whose mission is to support Latinx member businesses to acquire tools, skills, and representation to promote their advancement to foster economic development in our community and the city of Philadelphia. For more information about the Association of Mexican Business Owners, please visit: https://aemphilly.org/ Essential Functions Lead planning and execution for at least 4-5 AEM events between June and early November 2026. These events include one major festival - the annual Day of the Dead Festival on South 9th Street, along with 4-5 smaller block parties to be held along South Philadelphia cultural corridors.
Responsibilities include:
Work with AEM members and leadership to confirm goals and plans for events, including purpose, target communities, schedules, and logistics Establish and maintain strong relationships with AEM member businesses and leadership, and conduct outreach to Latinx businesses to promote participation in events Recruit and orient vendors for events with a focus on immigrant entrepreneurs; support vendors in securing necessary permits Identify and cultivate sponsors for events that align with AEM's mission and target community Identify and vet entertainment and services for events, including requesting and evaluating quotes and coordinating payment Coordinate with city agencies and partner organizations (including the Italian Market Association to secure necessary permits and in-kind donations of materials and services and ensure mutually productive collaboration Contribute to design and manage event promotion via social media and other promotional venues (influencers, city agencies, etc.) Create and manage planning timeline and coordinate both planning and event execution across multiple contributors and partner organizations Design and manage day-of schedule and logistics; serve as onsite point person for events Carefully track all timelines, budgets, schedules, and logistics for events to ensure successful events Skills & Qualifications Bilingual and bicultural (Spanish/English - speaking, reading and writing) Passion and dedication to the community and experience working with Latinx immigrant communities Experience managing social media promotion Experience planning and executing large-scale events and/or programs Experience working with small businesses, preferred experience working with Spanish-speaking or immigrant communities Experience managing and navigating relationships with city agencies and representatives Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish Highly organized, results-oriented and accountable Proactive and outgoing, self-starter with experience working independently and in diverse teams Flexibility with work environment Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Canva) Compensation, Schedule, and Location This is a part-time, contract position with no benefits. Compensation is $25/hour for 10-20 hours per week. The time commitment for this position is expected to fluctuate between 10 and 20 hours per week depending on proximity to planned events, with the highest intensity in October 2026. The role reports to the Association President, supported by 1-2 board members. It includes some evening and weekend time and significant in-person work. Most AEM members are located in South Philadelphia, especially along the S. 9th Street commercial corridor. The physical demands of this role include lifting objects up to 30 pounds, as well as significant time spent sitting, standing, and walking. The successful candidate will participate in periodic performance evaluation to assess progress.
