Position Summary:
The Event Producer brings life to the strategic vision of events and incentive travel through planning, execution, and on-site management. Works in collaboration with Event Manager.
What you will do:
Works with Event Manager to create and execute event activities that help attain the goals and objectives of Gordon Food Service. Responsible for on-site event management activities as identified by Event Manager, including facilitating and executing show activities, ordering food and beverage, ordering on-site services, etc. Coordinates communication with vendors selected by Event Manager. Coordinates decor, including working with Marketing Services and outside vendors to identify and order materials as needed, working with Event Manager on larger scale needs. Works with Event Manager to understand strategy and seminar/mini event needs, and develops plans to execute and facilitate. With the strategic direction from Event Manager, develops floor plan and directs arrangement of facilities when on site. Primary contact for vendors and divisional teams during planning and execution of events, and acts as the face of the Events team while on site. Hires and guides security and safety services for each event as needed. Directs support staff and participates in set-up and tear-down of events Responsible for event logistics, including transportation of materials and people. Ensures that all Events assigned to uphold the highest standards of integrity and Corporate Brand image. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability and willingness to travel to event sites as required.
When you will work:
Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Hybrid Work Schedule:
4 days in office, 1 day from home. Role based in Grand Rapids, MI What you'll bring to the table: Two years previous event planning or communications experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Associate degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Management or related field required. Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Management or related field preferred. Certification or License in CMP, CSEP or similar certification preferred. Ability to self-manage and self-direct work, goals, schedules, and priorities to manage one's own time and the time of others in a fast-paced work environment. Must be a team player, and have collaborative work relationships, and lead and manage a team. Must have excellent written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities. Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment. Must have good presentation and interpersonal skills. Must have general knowledge of the food service business. Previous experience using event technology software preferred.
